?? Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations in the world. Globally, almost 1 in 3 women have been subjected to some type of violence at least once in their life. ?? Today, International Day for the Elimination of #ViolenceAgainstWomen, marks the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (#GBV). Over the next 16 days, we'll bring to light the types of violence that exist against women, their impacts, as well as solutions, strategies and resources for eliminating that violence. ?? Violence against women continues to be an obstacle to achieving #equality, development, peace as well as to the fulfillment of women and girls’ human rights. By fighting for women's rights, we are protecting #humanrights as a whole! In 2021, ACESWorld’s ASK4Girls session at DA Basic School in Ghana engaged 138 girls in workshops on sexual and human rights, power dynamics, and life skills. They explored the UN Declaration on Human Rights, discussed societal inequalities, and crafted pouch bags to carry sanitary pads to school. These initiatives empower young girls to overcome barriers, enhance self-confidence, and embrace leadership. We're proud of our impact in communities like Asamang and Yawbrefo. Let’s keep advocating for girls’ education and equality! Like and share this post. #ASK4Girls #Empowerment #HumanRights Women for Women International European Institute for Gender Equality

For the International Week of Science and Peace, one remarkable figure to highlight is Joseph Rotblat, a physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II, turned away from nuclear weapons development to promote peace. He dedicated his life to preventing nuclear proliferation, winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts. He also co-founded the Pugwash Conferences, which played a significant role in disarmament initiatives, influencing important treaties such as the Partial Test Ban Treaty and the Chemical Weapons Convention. His legacy serves as a reminder of the pivotal role science plays in global security. Hospice is not just care for the dying, it’s about living with dignity and comfort. It focuses on enhancing quality of life, managing pain, and providing emotional support for individuals with terminal illnesses and their families. Similarly, #PalliativeCare supports those with serious illnesses, even if they're not terminal. Nearly 53 million Americans provide unpaid caregiving, often balancing this responsibility with jobs and other demands. This can lead to emotional, physical, and financial stress. Hospice services can help ease the burden by providing professional medical care, emotional counseling, and respite for caregivers. Hospice and palliative care ensure comfort and dignity for patients while supporting their loved ones. Support #caregivers and raise awareness about hospice care this month. ??Educate. Advocate. Act Now.?? To wrap up this World AMR Awareness Week, let's call on the global community to educate stakeholders on #AMR, advocate for bold commitments and take concrete actions in response to AMR! Drug-resistant infections know no borders, meaning no single country can respond to AMR alone. To address AMR globally, countries adopted the Global Action Plan (#GAP) on AMR during the 2015 World Health Assembly and committed to the development and implementation of multi-sectoral national action plans with a One Health approach to tackle AMR. To improve access to appropriate treatment and reduce inappropriate use of #antibiotics, WHO developed the #AWaRe (Access, Watch, Reserve) classification of antibiotics. The WHO AWaRe antibiotic book provides concise, evidence-based guidance on the choice of antibiotic, dose, route of administration, and duration of treatment for more than 30 of the most common clinical infections in children and adults in both primary health care and hospital settings: https://ow.ly/tQMv50Uee1F. Not understanding your Explanation of Benefits (#EOB) can have serious financial and health-related consequences. An EOB is a summary statement from an insurance company showing the breakdown of medical services billed, what the insurer covered, and what the patient might owe. To help understand EOB, as part of our #healthequity project, #ACESWorld provides a simplified guide on our website. Click the link to learn more: https://shorturl.at/w5TS2!
