The conversation framed what the current challenges are and touched on a variety of policy changes being called on to improve access, affordability, and quality of care for New York’s workforce and their families. Thank to all of our speakers: Grace Rauh of The 5BORO Institute, Reshma Saujani of Moms First, Eliza Shapiro of The New York Times, Deputy Mayor Ana Almanzar, Councilmember Jennifer Gutierrez, Wayne Ho of Chinese-American Planning Council and Aravella Simotas of REBNY (Real Estate Board of New York). This morning, New York City Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch took the stage at our latest ABNY Power Breakfast, providing an overview of the department's contribution to the city's declining crime rates while also calling for solutions to ongoing issues that have impeded safety, such as curbing rising rates of repeat offenders, reforming discovery laws to reduce the number of dismissed cases, increasing the force's headcount, and continuing successful strategies such as precision policing and increased presence in the city's transit system. Thank you, Commissioner Tisch, for addressing the ABNY network and for your continued public service and leadership!
