Associated General Contractors of America - Houston Chapter
关于我们
The Associated General Contractors of America, the voice of the construction industry, is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity and responsibility. The association provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protecting public interest. Since 1923, AGC Houston members, design firms and owners in the Houston commercial building industry have benefited from the services provided by AGC Houston. Our members remain the most well-informed business partners in the construction industry by utilizing the services available to assist them in delivering projects that fully meet owners' expectations. Through AGC Houston, members avail themselves to a wide-range of services that would be costly or unavailable on an individual basis. These services help them deliver their construction services without unnecessary, costly distractions that can eventually impact the owner. AGC Houston's services are developed by contractors and industry professionals who know first-hand what is needed to make a project successful for the owner and other members of the team. Being able to tap into the hundreds of AGC services (local, state and national) allows member firms to devote their attention to the project without having to invent their own solutions to common problems. This is to the AGC member's advantage that transfers to the project and the owner. AGC Houston, one of 100 chapters nationwide, has 1,000 members consisting of general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and service firms. Nationally, AGC represents more than 33,000 firms, including 7,500 of America's leading general contractors, and 12,000 specialty-contracting firms. Over 14,000 service providers and suppliers are also associated with AGC, through a nationwide network of chapters.

Taking a slightly different approach to this week's #HawaiianShirtFriday video, straying away from "Why AGC" today, and into a more personal topic. Last night I participated in the Covenant House Texas Executive Sleep Out for the 6th year in a row, giving up my bed for the night to raise awareness and support for homeless youth by simulating the experience of homelessness. That's right, I slept outside under the stars, on a cardboard box on the concrete, in just a sleeping bag. It wasn't the most comfortable night of sleep, but THAT'S THE POINT! Covenant House offers shelter and a wide range of support resources to homeless youth ages 18-24. Last night we got to hear about all the ways the Covenant House helps youth get back on their feet and into society, and also heard stories from the youth themselves, many of whom had extremely traumatic pasts that Covenant House has helped them overcome. I'm proud to say the AGC Houston team put together toiletry kits for the street outreach portion of our evening last night, and many of our awesome members also participated and sponsored the event to support the organization as well. Big shout out to some of my fellow AGC member sleepers: Rich Fanning Danny Thompson Mike Holland Jorge Barrera Brian Cook Tim Manherz If you'd like to learn more about the Covenant House and the work they're doing to help homeless youth please let me know, I'm always happy to share about my experiences with Sleep Out. And if you'd like to consider making a donation, 100% of the funds raised from Sleep Out go directly towards the operating expenses of Covenant House's programs. The link to support my campaign will be in the comments ??

Last week, we proudly hosted our 7th annual Vets in Construction Pistol & Rifle Shootout Competition at Copendero Indoor Archery, Pistol & Rifle Range. It was an honor to celebrate the incredible veterans in our industry while enjoying a day of friendly competition. This year, we added something new—an archery category—which brought even more excitement to the event. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, compete, and recognize those who have served our country. Huge thanks to members and sponsors for making this event possible. We need your help protecting construction from OSHA's one-size-fits-all heat rule! The proposed national heat standard applies one rigid rule to all climates, ignoring regional differences and worker-specific conditions. Help us advocate for flexible, construction-focused safety standards at: https://lnkd.in/em6k3KEB
