During Native American Heritage Month, we recognize the contributions of individuals in the medical field. One such pioneer is Susan La Flesche Picotte, the first Native American woman to become a physician in the US. She was also a vocal advocate for public health, promoting temperance and hygiene among the Omaha Reservation community.

According to the CDC, over 34 million Americans have diabetes, with about 1 in 5 unaware of their condition. Another 88 million have prediabetes.
