  • During shortages of sterile fluids for intravenous injection, hospitals take action to conserve product while still providing high-quality patient care. Some of these strategies include maintaining situational awareness of available formulations of fluids and using alternatives when available, prioritizing the use of crystalloid fluids, and transitioning as much fluid management as possible to oral and enteral forms. Use ASPR TRACIE’s Intravenous Fluid Shortage Strategies resource to learn about general strategies, and those geared specifically toward emergency medical services, pharmacies, emergency departments, surgical services, inpatient units, and system/incident command. https://lnkd.in/dRMRSeXX
