Join the Applied Sport and Performance Program of Dominican University of CA on Saturday October 5th, at 10 AM PT, for our online Performance Masterclass “There's no business like show business, or is there?" by the elite musicians, Catherine Arlidge MBE, Joanna Patton and Rebecca Herman. Elite performers, whether they be artistic or sporting, have so much in common. So what can we learn from each other? These 3 elite musicians will share their experiences of creating a tool kit to be your best self and what might interfere with that. They will go on to explore what athletes might learn from musicians in terms of attitudes to audiences/crowds, the role of sociability, individuality and identity, career longevity and transferable skills. The speakers will cover how musicians deal with perfectionism, performance anxiety and external negative voices. This session will be interactive and will deliver a unique insight into complexity and joy of musical performance. Registering gives you access to the recording after the event, even if you can’t attend live. You can register for this event here: https://lnkd.in/g9auv6j8 All profits of this event will go towards student scholarships. #PerformanceMasterclass #PerformancePsychology #MentalPerformance #CMPC #AASP #Musicians #ClassicalMusic #ArtisticPerformance #MentalTraining #DominicanUniversityCA

  • The NFL kicked off on September 5, and since then, the Kansas City chiefs, champions of the past two super bowls, have already won their first three games. After only playing six seasons, the Pro Football network has listed Patrick Mahomes as one of the best quarterbacks of the century. How has he led the team to victory? His mindset has been quite simple about how to win time and time again: focus on the win. He keeps his eye on the prize and focuses during gametime. He has realized that he can only multitask so much, even in a game. One thing that Mahomes prioritizes focusing on is winning, then the plays he needs to run, then what he’s up against. He doesn’t worry or think about bad outcomes during gametime, and if bad outcomes happen, he thinks about how he can win again. He doesn’t worry about the crowd, or the weather, or anything he can’t control, even for a second. He keeps a fierce mentality in order to lead his team to victory.
