Asheville is home to many amazing small businesses, including artists, breweries, shops, restaurants, and more. Explore Asheville has come up with a fantastic was for us to send our support from all over to these business owners. Make sure to check out the link and send some Love from Afar!
Local, independent businesses are the heart of the Asheville area—home to growers who are artists and artists whose work grows. Thought leaders and thought provokers, musicians and storytellers, entrepreneurs and educators, foodies and beer lovers, hippies, healers, adventurers, creators and innovators. We craft and brew and paint and carve, handcrafted by real hands. Now, those hands need a helping hand. And a hug. This weekend, Explore Asheville, in partnership with Asheville Downtown Association, Go Local Asheville, ArtsAVL, Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, ASHEVILLE INDEPENDENT RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION INC, WNC: MADE X MTNS, Mountain BizWorks, and JD Ellison and Company, launched the Love Asheville From Afar page. This page gathers shop links and direct donation platforms for Buncombe County businesses impacted by Hurricane Helene. Businesses located in or selling from Buncombe County can participate by completing this submission form: https://lnkd.in/gFFiH_V2 Your support can make a real difference—shop local or donate to help rebuild: https://lnkd.in/gA9Mmq39

One of the standout moments of this year's AIA Aspire Conference was Your Nerdy Best Friend's insightful speech on using AI for those heinous tasks that often drain time and energy. She reminded us how AI can be a game-changer, giving teams more time to focus on what matters most to them. In the A/E world, marketing is often seen as one of those heinous tasks. But we love it! Our goal is to make firm efforts more valuable by taking marketing off their plates, and letting them focus on their passion, while we tell the world about their amazing work. We'll be watching A/E tech resources, like Akhil Hemanth's website, closely to see how firms will embrace AI and how marketing can play its part. In the coming weeks, we'll have more to share about some of the exciting tech trends on the horizon, so keep checking our social channels and website to make sure you don't miss out! #aia #aiaaspire #yournerdybestfriend #aemarketing #ai

Partner Stan Wall, P.E. recently spoke at the AIA Aspire Conference about our impactful project in Dunwoody, GA. During the session, Stan, Lindsey Wilke from HKS, Inc., Scott D. Baker from RELM, and Ann Hanlon from Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCID), discussed our efforts to introduce Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) to this suburban area of Atlanta.? ?? Stan highlighted the importance of collaboration among partners to achieve collective goals and emphasized how focusing on equity can restore and invigorate communities. By moving beyond uniformity, our approach seeks to enhance access, celebrate culture, and provide long-term value. He also noted the unique opportunity presented by the adaptive reuse of older shopping malls, which can be transformed into vibrant, mixed-use spaces that benefit the community.?? ?? Thank you to AIA Aspire Conference for hosting this fruitful discussion on the transformative opportunities of transit-oriented development!? ?? #AIA #Architecture #UrbanDevelopment #TransitOrientedDevelopment #CommunityBuilding

Last week at the AIA Aspire Conference in Asheville, N.C., was an amazing experience. I had the chance to share the Architecture Center's purpose with many architects and designers. It’s been a while since I’ve spent time sketching just for fun, and the Urban Sketching event in downtown Asheville gave me the perfect opportunity to do so with great company and encouragement. The Dine by Design dinner at Cúrate was another highlight, allowing us to connect with many talented individuals. A huge thanks to everyone who participated—looking forward to next year already! AISC's architecture team had an amazing experience at the AIA Aspire Conference in Asheville, N.C. this week! Our team hosted two events: the Dine by Design dinner at Cúrate and the Urban Sketching event in downtown Asheville. The sketching session was especially memorable, with participants learning new techniques and producing some incredible sketches by the end. The conference may be over, but the great conversations and inspiration will stick with us for a long time! Visit aisc.org/architecture to learn more about the Architecture Center at AISC and browse the valuable resources we offer to architects designing with steel.

We had such a good time attending and presenting (aka: talking and chatting) at AIA Aspire Conference! Thank you so much AIA North Carolina and Aspire for the opportunity. few fun takeaways: 1. We LOVE Asheville! Guess living there for 17 years helps, but we were grateful to get to 'come home' to such a beautiful and vibrant city. Yay to far away friends who weren't so far away for a few days! 2. The Aspire conference is like no other...amazing to experience the city, move from venue to venue, and receive credits. 3. Thanks to our architect dad/FIL "Chuck" for taking pics, see below. 4. We are energized and will to continue learning how AI will impact and support and challenge and change our profession and hope for more opportunities to share with the AEC community.
