Check out the recent publication from Sustainable Transportation Systems Research Group at Purdue University: "Public Preferences for Stationary Wired and Dynamic Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging Technologies," now published in Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment. What’s new in this study? In this study, we conducted a choice experiment with over 1,200 participants in Indiana to explore public preferences for charging technologies, including the emerging Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT)—a charging technology that allows EVs to charge while driving. What else to expect? (1) Using an Integrated Choice and Latent Variable (ICLV) model, we analyzed how a multitude of factors—including public charging attributes, respondents' sociodemographic characteristics, and latent variables—influence charging decisions. (2) We found that experienced and inexperienced EV users exhibit distinct charging preferences, leading to differences in willingness-to-pay and elasticities. (3) Finally, we derived policy implications for both experienced and inexperienced users based on the modeling results. ??
