Great piece from The New York Times focused on small farms featuring on our Food Leaders Fellow Tom McDougall.
Tom McDougall of 4P Foods, stellar member of the first cohort of?Food and Society at Aspen Institute?Food Leaders Fellows, is the most eloquent defender of small farms being robbed of promised USDA funds to help farms and people in need, in?The New York Times?piece on farm harm: "The government has a choice to make now. What do we want our children and families to eat? Where do we want that food to come from?" Had the local food programs not been canceled, they would have provided $3 million for 4P Foods to buy produce, meat, dairy and other products from 200 farmers and producers in the mid-Atlantic region to distribute to food banks and schools. Without the funding, Mr. McDougall anticipates having to scale back orders at some farms and stop working with others altogether. https://lnkd.in/eheP2ucG
