Aspen Ideas Katie Cassetta Graham Veysey Laura Schifter, Chancellor John King, the Known team and others brainstormed on what it will take to empower all young people with the understanding, knowledge, and skills they need for success in our changing climate.?

There’s a good chance you’re reading this on an iPhone. What is Apple doing to work towards climate solutions? At Aspen Ideas: Climate, Lisa Jackson, Vice President of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives at Apple and Former Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, shared her insights into Apple’s climate goals: ?? “Apple is focused on a goal to be 100% carbon neutral across our value chain by 2030.” ?? “The private sector has a very important role to play but policy is an indispensable part of the solution. Voluntary actions are wonderful and leadership is extraordinary. I'm very proud of the work that we do at Apple but without governments who are setting the rules and requirements, we're always going to have this kind of patchwork of leaders and laggards.” ?? “Carbon removal is nothing without mitigating emissions first. You shouldn’t even start until you have worked on mitigation. Our goal is for 75% of our emissions need to be gone based on our baseline before we can count on the removal.”

Water scarcity is a major concern as the planet warms. Desalination has emerged as a workable solution, but traditional methods tend to be energy-intensive and costly. We caught up with Aspen Ideas: Climate speaker Dragan Tutic, co-founder and CEO of Oneka Technologies, to learn more about this issue and the innovative solution his company has developed: a floating, wave-powered raft that turns seawater into fresh, drinkable water.
