The official theme of #ClimateWeekNYC 2024 was “It’s Time." However, throughout the week, we also observed another powerful theme: “Momentum.” We play an active role in shaping the future of sustainability, from promoting a diverse and skilled workforce to exploring cutting-edge technology solutions. Representing engineers worldwide, our contributions throughout Climate Week NYC underscored our commitment to driving meaningful progress. We are energized by the conversations, connections, and collaborations held throughout the week. Highlights include: Bridging the Sustainability Skills Gap We teamed up with OnePointFive (opf.degree) and LinkedIn to explore the urgent need to close the growing green skills gap. We discussed practical steps to rapidly upskill and mobilize talent to build a climate-ready STEM workforce. Advancing Cleantech and Diversity in STEM Hosted by Work on Climate, we participated in the Advanced STEM for Cleantech Design Summit, which brought together attendees from 40 organizations to develop solutions for expanding a more diverse STEM workforce and driving real-world impact. Sustainable Development Aligned with our ongoing efforts to promote equitable, sustainable development, we hosted a dynamic breakfast salon with Indiaspora. 30 attendees from diverse sectors engaged in dialogue about leveraging the strengths of the Indian diaspora in addressing climate challenges. Hardware + Climate Tech At Newlab's flagship event, New Climate Futures, we joined more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to explore and demonstrate groundbreaking technologies to reshape the future climate solutions. We were also joined by ASME ISHOW partner, SecondMuse and program alumni, Re-Nuble. Let’s continue pushing the boundaries of innovation to ensure a sustainable future for all!
