Happy 77th birthday to the @CIA! ?? Did you know the CIA traces its origins back to America's first intelligence agency, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) from WWII? In fact, about a third of the CIA's original staff were OSS alumni. The OSS is considered the "father" of both the CIA and U.S. Special Forces. In 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act, officially bringing the CIA into existence on September 18th. This gave them a clear mandate to gather foreign intel and analyze it for policymakers, while the FBI handled domestic intelligence.
