NISA is Hiring: Domestic Violence Advocacy Lead
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and background
Status: Part-time/20 hours a week
The Domestic Violence Advocacy Lead will lead the advocacy team at the Nisa Home and Nisa Transitional Homes, the agency’s domestic violence safe homes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Single point of contact to the board for everything related to advocacy
- Supervise resident coordinator, advocates and advocacy volunteers
- Review cases with domestic violence response team as needed
- Respond to helpline callers, provide crisis counseling, and referrals to appropriate resources.
- Conduct initial client assessment and intake.
- Provide strong case plans for each client based on agreed goals, with a clear understanding on what success will look like for the client.
- Client Advocacy: phone calls, coordination of services on behalf of the clients.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Professional experience in the human services or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years working with issues of Domestic Violence and a record of successfully facilitating change and/or innovation in the Domestic Violence or related field.
- Knowledge of violence dynamics and Alameda County resources for homeless and other underserved populations.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team, being an effective and collaborative leader.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Domestic Violence Counselor Certification or willing to obtain shortly after hire.
