Leveling Up Your TRM Program: People Risk Management (PRM) Follow-Up Article - Written by ASIS TRM Steering Committee Member This is the follow-up article written by ASIS Travel Risk Management Community Steering Committee member Bruce McIndoe, which was part of a two-part TRM article in this month's Business Travel Executive Magazine. This article provides a broader perspective on the importance of adopting the "people risk management" philosophy in TRM programs and provides a new way of thinking about TRM and how employees are supported no matter where they are or what they do. Here's the link to the 1st article of the two-part series, which is related: https://lnkd.in/g8TWuFgx #travelriskmanagment #iso31030 #travelrisk

Business Travel, Remote Work, and People Risk Management: ASIS Steering Committee Member Interviewed Bruce McIndoe, ASIS Travel Risk Management Community Steering Committee Member, was recently featured in Business Travel Executive Magazine alongside other industry experts. The article explores key travel risk management (TRM) topics, with a particular focus on people risk management and its implications for remote and work-from-home employees. If you're a TRM practitioner, travel manager, or involved in travel procurement, this article may be of interest. Note: The same magazine contained a related follow-up TRM article written by Bruce, which provides an expanded view of leveling up TRM programs by enhancing their adoption into an organization's people risk management (PRM) program and philosophy. Power Outage Chaos at Heathrow – Travel Risk Management Lessons & Future Considerations - ASIS TRM Community Shares Thoughts ASIS International's Security Management Magazine interviewed one of our ASIS Travel Risk Management Community members, Kevin Coffey, about the recent power outage at London Heathrow Airport and its impact on thousands of travelers, not just in London but around the world. The following article shares a few key insights for travel managers and Travel Risk Management (TRM) practitioners on how to better support travelers during major airport and travel destination disruptions. This isn’t the first time we’ve faced significant travel upheavals. History has shown us how critical preparedness is when it comes to supporting travelers: ? July 2024 – CrowdStrike outage disrupting airports worldwide ?? 2016 – Brussels Airport bombing US 9/11 – Nationwide air travel shutdown in the U.S. ?? 2010 – Iceland’s volcanic ash cloud shutting down European airspace If your organization hasn’t yet reviewed, updated, and tested its support for travelers during major disruptions or considered broader travel risk management strategies, now is the time to start the conversation. Thankfully, this Heathrow incident appears to be “just” a power outage, with hopes for a quick resolution. However, a different scenario could have led to a much more complex outcome. Preparedness is key. #TravelRiskManagement #BusinessTravel #RiskMitigation #DutyOfCare #ISO31030 #iso31031 #asis

RC Miles, CPP wrote a very informative and insightful article on avoiding the risk of wrongful detention while traveling. It's well timed, as today, March 9th is US Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day. RC gives solid, easy to understand advice on looking at your traveler profile and past behavior to assess this risk. This is a highly recommended read.
