Asians at Amazon

Asians and Filipinos at Amazon affinity groups came together this afternoon to celebrate the Year of the Snake! The Lunar New Year celebration featured a wonderful blend of cultural experiences, including traditional foods, calligraphy art, and trivia. The Filipinos at Amazon group contributed native snacks, swag, and introduced attendees to “tumbang preso,” a traditional Filipino game where participants knockdown cups, using tsinelas (slippers/flip-flops). Last month, the NYC Chapter of Asians at Amazon hosted our annual Lunar New Year Celebration. This year's festivities included not only a lion dance performance and traditional games, but also, for the very first time, a live Calligraphy Workshop hosted by our own Phoebe X.! I'm incredibly proud of our board members for continuing to set the bar high for cultural programming at Amazon, with a special shout-out to our event leads Victoria H. and Maggie Peng for their expert coordination!

?? Asians at Amazon Vancouver Turned 1! ?? We recently celebrated the 1-year anniversary of the Asians at Amazon Vancouver Chapter! From starting with just 3 people (Zoe So, Daniel Kwok, and me) to growing into a hard-working Board Zoe So Daniel Kwok Angel Hou Henry H. Sandeep Shekhar Prasad (with Ajeeth Ramanan Christopher Tang and now me on the Canada Corporate Board), our journey has been amazing! Over the past year, the Vancouver chapter of the employee affinity group hosted fun and inspiring events for Amazon employees. Our mission is to champion diversity and amplify Asian voices in our local communities. To mark this milestone, the Vancouver chapter hosted the “City Stories: Exploring Vancouver's Heritage - Chinatown” event in September. In partnership with the Vancouver Chinatown Storytelling Centre, we enjoyed walking tours, a scavenger hunt uncovering the city’s history, and a trivia contest about Vancouver and Asian heritage. And, because, Asian, lots of delicious food from local restaurants! Big shoutouts to our Amazon Executive Advisor Justin Fung for sharing his dedication and active engagement with the community and to Anna Tandoc of Amazon Engage Canada for her enablement. We’re also grateful to our event volunteers for creating such interactive and memorable activities. Here’s to many more years of amazing events for Amazon employees in Vancouver, Canada!
