At Asian Women for Health we have successfully completed 4 Cohorts of Community Health Impact Training with new, short program cohorts coming in 2025! It was truly heartwarming to witness our graduates radiate hope and passion, ready to create meaningful change in the communities they will serve. ???? Born in Brooklyn and raised between China and the U.S., Sharon's early experiences with healthcare challenges shaped her drive to serve others. "Seeing the struggles my family faced to get the care they needed showed me the importance of bridging gaps in understanding," she says. Her journey in healthcare began with roles as a clinical and nursing assistant, where she witnessed barriers like language and financial strain. Discovering AWFH’s Community Health Training became a turning point. “I love how hands-on the training is,” she shares. “It taught me how to connect with people on a human level.” Now, as she returns to nursing school, Sharon's determined to become a community health worker, committed to helping others navigate healthcare with compassion and understanding! Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) is a landmark study collaborating with partners worldwide to create a robust open-access data set and biosample library to speed scientific breakthroughs and new treatments. It was truly inspiring to meet the PPMI community and hear directly from folks about their day-to-day lives and why they joined research.
