This year, she gave a presentation at her high school about voting rights, 2024 ballot measures, and the voting process. She also helped with a preregistration workshop to ensure students’ voices are heard in upcoming elections.????? It’s the season for gratitude and all month long ALA will be lifting up our hardworking volunteers.?? “ I find joy in being able to help others. At ALA, all of the team members are motivated and passionate about the work they do, and I enjoy being able to assist in their efforts,” says ALA volunteer Parminder, who first connected with us during our Citizenship Day naturalization clinics in 2017. Driven by a passion for immigration law and a belief in the importance of accessible legal services, he has been a dedicated volunteer ever since. Are you ok? ALA is mourning several election outcomes and the increasing harm that is coming for those already struggling so much. Women, immigrants, people of color and others subjected to violence will be impacted greatly. ALA will be here, more vigilantly than ever advancing justice, dignity, and equality for all through our programs. ALA will also be here to help communities process fears about what lies ahead. We are working hard to schedule professionally facilitated culturally sensitive Community Listening Sessions as soon as possible. Whether you give time to ALA, you donate, or you have received services from ALA, we are thinking of you. Donations have kept ALA's lights on for close to 50 years. Volunteers are no less vital, helping interview ALA clients, providing language interpretation, knocking on doors to educate people about voting — the list is endless. Do stay tuned about some positive local outcomes following the elections, which could not have been possible without your support.
