??Asian Health Services recently won 1st?place in National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) ’s 2024 Innovation Incubator powered by Abbott at the Milken Institute?Future of Health Summit. AHS physician Dr. Christina Ng and dietician Eliza Chan pitched the "Happy Kitchen," a program AHS piloted this past year to improve health equity by engaging our community about nutritious food and healthful cooking in their native languages. Through the pilot, the team created two cooking courses, one in Chinese and one in Vietnamese, geared towards showing that culturally relevant, nutritious meals can be delicious and easy to prepare. The next stage of the program will be to reach a wider audience by working with culturally relevant food influencers to spread the message about healthy cooking and eating.? ??We're grateful to the judges for recognizing the importance of engaging communities on healthy eating in culturally relevant and linguistically accessible ways!

关于我们
Asian Health Services, founded in 1974, provides health, social, and advocacy services for all regardless of income, insurance status, immigration status, language, or culture. Our approach to well-being focuses on "whole patient health", which is why besides primary care we also provide mental health, case management, nutrition, and dental care to more than 27,000 patients in English and over 12 Asian languages: Cantonese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Mien, Lao, Mongolian, Karen, Karenni, and Burmese. We offer medical, dental, and mental health services for all ages. We also recognize that a patient's health is directly linked to their social and economic circumstances. That's why we are dedicated advocates, and we fight for legislation that make our communities a safer and healthier place to live.

Asian Health Services’ Advocacy Manager, Janie Chen, was a panelist at KQED’s Live Event "How We Fight: The Power of Asian American Activism", alongside Co-Founder of Very Asian Foundation Gia Vang and Pyxie Castillo from GABRIELA USA. Janie shared her team's community organizing work with working-class, immigrant seniors from Oakland Chinatown, highlighting the importance of intergenerational and multi-racial solidarity in past and present movements. The inspiring journey where Chinese elders visited SF's Chinatown, West Oakland and San Quentin State Prison was documented in a newly released short film now available to watch at bit.ly/LoveHasTwoMeanings #HealthEquity #CommunitySafety #CommunitySolidarity
