WINTER WEATHER WARNING: Once again, Lincoln is preparing for a wild end-of-winter storm. The Asian Center offices will be closed tomorrow, March 19th. Please, stay home and safe tomorrow, friends! Continuing posts to honor accomplished immigrant women throughout #WomensHistoryMonth. Dr. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee was a Chinese-American women's rights activist and minister who campaigned for women's suffrage in the United States. In recognition of her life and advocacy on behalf of women and Chinese immigrants in the United States, the Chinatown U.S. Post Office on Doyers Street was renamed in her honor in 2017. Our Chinese Elders group met yesterday and Asian Center staff were able to share the welcoming valentines made by community members at part of Lincoln Welcoming Week's Love Your Neighbor LNK effort. These lovely, smiling faces say it all! A small gesture of kindness and welcome from a fellow community member is meaningful to our immigrant neighbors. Over 750 valentines were collected through the Love Your Neighbor LNK project!
