Advancing the AAPI business community
关于我们
ABEC supports AAPI businesses to overcome historic inequities in access to capital and contracting opportunities to increase pathways to economic growth and success. ABEC serves as a platform to coordinate and unify a vibrant community of entrepreneurs, service providers, and advocates to build a strong collective voice for the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) business community across Massachusetts. The Asian Business Empowerment Council (ABEC) is a new venture that is being incubated by the Asian Community Fund with generous seed funding from the Eastern Bank Foundation and the Boston Foundation.

The Khmer Business Meet & Greet Dinner on February 27, hosted by the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association (CMAA) at the Olympic Restaurant in Lowell, brought together Khmer entrepreneurs, business leaders, and community partners for an evening of networking and knowledge-sharing. The event highlighted the remarkable growth of Khmer-owned businesses—one of the fastest-growing Asian ethnic entrepreneurial groups in Massachusetts—while also addressing ongoing challenges in accessing capital and resources. During the evening, we shared key insights from our research, emphasizing the economic contributions of AAPI businesses, as well as the need to strengthen financial and technical support systems to ensure business sustainability and growth. The gathering provided a vital space for storytelling, collaboration, and resource-sharing, reinforcing the power of community-driven efforts in fostering business growth. Attendees connected with organizations like ABEC, CMAA, MassDevelopment and local economic development institutions to explore opportunities for expanding networks and accessing essential support. Thank you to the CMAA team for organizing such an important gathering! Sothea Chiemruom | Geetha R. | Qingjian Shi
