Ashton Design is a full-service studio specialized in branding and placemaking.

关于我们

We are designers, problem solvers and strategists. We create identities and build brands for people, businesses, and places. Ashton Design is a multidisciplinary design studio founded in 1985. We have an international reputation for design leadership in the practice of experience design for settings ranging from sports arenas and school campuses to public spaces, residential and retail centers. Our solutions are tailored to each project’s unique challenges and opportunities. We work with corporations, business owners, developers, non-profits, sports teams, colleges and secondary schools, retail planners, associations and city governments. We partner with a variety of consultants ranging from architects and landscape designers, to urban planners, to help shape the experience of places and spaces in a collaborative spirit. We apply the same basic principle to each project, big or small: we bring together a team of highly creative minds, listen to the client, pay attention to detail, and tell their story through identity development, print and digital communications and visual environments.

Diving into the unknown is our favorite ocean to play in. Thanks to Design Director Jeremy Hoffman Hoffman for inspiring the next generation of visual designers and explorers at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

    Environmental / Exhibition Designer

Presented a “how to” exhibition design lecture and workshop at the Maryland Institute College of Art this weekend, reminding students that no two projects are ever the same — as designers, we constantly find ourselves wearing multiple hats while often diving into the unknown. Hopefully some relevant insights as the graphic design MFA students work to complete the design and curation of their thesis projects and begin fabrication and installation. Great working with Paul Carlos of Pure+Applied, exploring the creative process and providing critiques to help shape and refine their designs. Can’t wait to see the final thesis installations come to life!

*New work alert* Particularly proud to share our rebrand for Baltimore’s Bromo Arts District. We couldn’t have asked for better collaborators in Emily Breiter & co. as we worked together to create an identity that embodied the energy, creativity, and enthusiasm the district is known for. Highlights include: ? A custom-drawn typeface that champions artistic experimentation and self-realization, just like Bromo ? A shape-shifting logo that reflects the district’s adaptable character ? A rich color palette informed by Bromo's own street art, shops, and galleries ? High-octane language that fosters a sense of belonging for artists, residents, and investors while encouraging visitors to come explore ? A suite of swag and marketing materials that allows all to partake in Bromo’s bright and original spirit Join us as we unpack all of the above (plus more nerdy design details) here: https://lnkd.in/em8qpRcb

Our very own Principal and Creative Director, Alexey Ikonomou, spoke to students at Kent State University yesterday, sharing his insights into branded environments and how to build a career in design.

It was a pleasure presenting "Branded Environments" to the students of Kent State University's College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Thank you to Tina Patel, NCIDQ, LEED Green Associate, Associate Professor of Interior Design, friend and former colleague for inviting me to speak to the Professional Practice senior class. It was fun to share Ashton Design's involvement in SEGD, all the great things the organization does, as well as some of Ashton's projects. ABET rebrand and HQ design https://lnkd.in/ezZzN5tN WMATA's DC HQ design https://lnkd.in/ewjhcqWZ SEGD 50th Anniversary Conference https://lnkd.in/eYq_Uj-z The students were very engaged and asked great questions at the end. Was fun to see them embrace this aspect of spatial design and consider alternative ways to approach a project. All the best to the students and their future endeavors!

This past week marked the anniversary of Lexington Market, a cornerstone of Baltimore’s history and a hub for local food, culture, and community. As one of the nation’s oldest public markets, Lexington Market continues to serve as a gathering place that celebrates Baltimore’s rich culinary heritage while supporting small businesses and local entrepreneurs. Its revitalization stands as a testament to the city's commitment to preserving historic institutions while fostering economic growth and inclusivity. Thank you to the partners who made this vision a reality: @bmorepublicmarkets @seawall.development @bctdesigngroup @flourateeter @southwaybuilders @ashtondesign @eshaw_art @_yoshann @humanmade.signs

Did you know Ashton shares the same rookie year as Michael Jordan and Super Mario? When David Ashton opened our doors in 1985, who knew we were joining such a legendary class—one that witnessed Bruce Springsteen release Born in the USA, Marty McFly take his first ride in the DeLorean, and Bill Gates debut Windows 1.0.? When you’re in the moment, it’s hard to tell who or what will stand the test of time. But now, with 40?years under our belt, we’re celebrating by taking a look through our own history to: ?? log the stories and artifacts that mean the most to us ?? reflect on what has left a lasting impression on our industry ?? marvel at the beautiful, weird technology we used along the way Whaddaya say, wanna poke around in the past with us? *THE ARCHIVE IS OPEN* https://lnkd.in/eaksuuf5
