On March 4th, ASHRAE members representing all the Texan Chapters- including ASHRAE Houston Chapter- met with lawmakers and legislative staff at the Capitol in Austin, Texas. The team of 11 volunteers ultimately met with TWENTY-NINE different Senators, Representatives, Legislative Aids, Legislative Directors, and Chiefs of Staff, setting a record for most meetings during an ASHRAE Day on the Hill Event! The team shared information with lawmakers about Texas House Bill 882, which would allow for unincorporated areas in the state to enforce a building code, and Texas Senate Bill 214, which would incentivize adoption of high efficiency HVAC products. The last Board of Governors meeting for the year is in the books! Every month our ASHRAE Houston Chapter officers and volunteers get together to discuss upcoming events and chapter business. This month we were lucky enough to meet in person at the Miracle at Winnie's pop-up, which added some appreciated holiday cheer to our meeting.
