关于我们
The Connecticut Chapter is one of ASHRAE’s (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) oldest chapters, dating back to June, 1940, when it was originally chartered as a chapter of the ASHVE. In 1959, the Connecticut Chapter of ASHVE merged with the Connecticut Valley Chapter of ASRE to become the Connecticut Chapter of ASHRAE. In 1961, the Southern Connecticut Chapter of ASHRAE also became part of the Connecticut Chapter. In 1989, a portion of the Western Massachusetts Chapter was added to the Connecticut Chapter. Today, the Chapter geographically serves the State of Connecticut (except Fairfield County) plus three counties in Massachusetts (Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin). The Chapter has grown to be one of ASHRAE's largest with over 500 Society members. Rich in the traditions of participation, leadership, and contribution, the Connecticut Chapter is proud of its many members who have made significant contributions to the Society and the state of the art in our industry. The Connecticut Chapter is the one of the largest out of 15 chapters in ASHRAE’s Region I. Region I is ASHRAE’s largest region, comprising nearly eleven percent of ASHRAE’s world wide membership.

The ASHRAE Board voted to keep the membership dues rate flat for the 2025-26 Society Year to balance increased costs in other areas of our members’ lives. Whether you’re looking to join or renew, this is great news! What exactly do you get when you join ASHRAE? Free Winter or Annual Conference (within the first 24 months) = $900 average value Free Handbook Online = $342 Free Annual Benefit Selection = up to $285 ASHRAE Journal Subscription = $95 Free STBE Access = $419 Member Access to Technology Portal (600+ ASHRAE Research Reports, 1700+ ASHRAE Journal articles archive) = $199 = $2,240 not including the Bookstore, Education, and Certification discounts. For just $285 a year, the return on investment is certainly worth it. The best part of membership is free: A network of colleagues you can meet in your local chapter, at Technical Committee meetings, or conferences. Join today at join.ashrae.org.

Another busy week down! First a Melia team meeting with our RenewAire, LLC rep, Kevin, and Andrew from Soler & Palau Ventilation Group where we talked about exciting product updates and future designs. Then Bill and I trekked down to Norwalk for a lunch and learn at Altieri with Chet from FabricAir where we saw some creative and attractive fabric duct solutions. Mid week Melia Associates, LLC had a great showing at the ASHRAE Connecticut Chapter meeting where we connected with some of our favorite people in the industry including Jon with Emme Controls. (Pictured below) We finished the week with another lunch and learn at H.F. Lenz Company discussing some of Emme's solutions to comfort issues in new and existing buildings. Looking forward to what next week will bring! #ENGINEERINGWEEK #HVAC #ENGINEERINGMARKETING

If you haven't attended, and are a YEA member of ASHRAE, you should attend. Message me if you think you shouldn't, so I can explain why you are quite mistaken. Message me if you think your employer won't support you so I can help you convince them it is the best investment they can make in you, for them. Message me if you are worried about travel expenses so I can point you to the resources your ASHRAE Chapter & Region almost certainly have and are itching to help you with.
