It was our pleasure to host the NORTH CAROLINA DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION last week. The group had a taste of Asheville with a LaZoom tour, dinner at Chai Pani Restaurant Group, a beautiful stay at the Flat Iron Hotel, breakfast from Flour and lunch across Downtown at S&W Cafeteria, Jerusalem Cafe, and Early Girl Eatery. We learned a lot, and experienced the best Asheville has to offer!
Representatives from across the state attended the annual Large Cities meeting today including Charlotte, Durham, Wilmington, Asheville, High Point, Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, Raleigh, Mooresville, Wilson, and Chapel Hill.?We also welcomed our colleagues from the Main Street District in Columbia, SC. ?We had lots of discussion around responding to the unexpected, public safety, BID contracting and other hot topics. ?It was great to network and learn from each other.?See everyone next year in Winston-Salem!

Sound on! ?? Today Explore Asheville launched a new commercial inspired by “Carolina” Eric Church’s heartfelt musical ode to his home state. Debuting at the top of the new year and in the wake of Hurricane Helene, the spot aims to encourage travelers to return to the Appalachian area for vacations and events to support the many small, creative businesses and the people of the region. As part of a broader “Be Part of the Comeback” campaign, the sixty, thirty and fifteen-second spots feature Church’s song “Carolina” alongside images of open doors and welcoming faces as local creators, makers and businesses call visitors to come back to Asheville with heart. In the early days following Hurricane Helene’s devastating impacts to the area, Explore Asheville was honored to step up as presenting sponsor to support Eric Church and Luke Comb’s Concert for Carolina to benefit our region. We are humbled that Eric Church offered "Carolina" -- a siren song for Church’s home state -- to invite people to come back to Asheville and Western North Carolina. Come see us. ??

Proud to host Governor-Elect Joshua Stein to Downtown Asheville. Our members Lexington Avenue Glassworks, Mast General Store, and Chestnut restauarant are staples in the Asheville Community.
Today, Governor-Elect Joshua Stein met with local business leaders in Asheville to highlight downtown’s swift revival, nearly three months after Hurricane Helene. His visit underscores the critical need to welcome visitors back to the Asheville and Buncombe County area to help accelerate the community’s economic recovery. We are grateful for his support of our small, independent businesses and his message that Asheville is open and welcoming visitors. Asheville's resilience and spirit are on full display as our community comes together and collaborates to reopen and welcome guests once again. Today’s visit was filled with optimism and hope, and we are grateful to continue building on that momentum. We encourage guests to #BePartoftheComeback by planning their trips with heart, by visiting Explore Asheville to see what’s open. For those who want to support Asheville businesses from their corner of the world, we encourage your mindful travel community to visit #LoveAshevilleFromAfar to shop local businesses and contribute to the #AlwaysAshevilleFund, a small business grant program that’s already provided more than $1 million in financial support to 320 local travel and hospitality businesses. For guests who are interested in?donating their time and talent during a visit, there are numerous #voluntourism opportunities to get involved, from river cleanups to food distribution services. Spark your seasonal spirit and know that every ticket, restaurant reservation or locally purchased holiday gift offers hope and help for our deeply rooted creative community.
