#120YearsOfACS | In celebration of 120 years of Asheboro City Schools, we asked members of our Alumni, who are now employees, to tell their ACS Story in exactly 120 words.?? Read from Rebecca Kidd, AHS Class of 1994, current Teacher of the Year, and Kinder/1st Grade Teacher at Charles W. McCrary Elementary: As a student I attended Charles W. Elementary School, North Asheboro Middle School and Asheboro High School. The many wonderful teachers I had over the years led me to become a teacher. I wanted to make a positive impact on my students lives like the teachers who taught me did on mine! Upon graduation from Pfeiffer University I knew I wanted to return to Asheboro City Schools to begin my career! I have spent the last 25 years teaching at Charles W. McCrary Elementary School, the same place that gave me my foundation and instilled in me a love of learning! I am proud to be a Blue Comet and play small part in the lives of future Blue Comets!

#120YearsOfACS | In celebration of 120 years of Asheboro City Schools, we asked members of our Alumni, who are now employees, to tell their ACS Story in exactly 120 words.?? Meet Kenndel Storie, a 2013 AHS graduate and Administrative Assistant for the Support Services Department of Central Office: As a 2013 graduate of Asheboro High School, my time at Asheboro City Schools played a significant role in shaping my future. The opportunities provided through DECA and Marketing classes inspired me to pursue my MBA and gave me the confidence to follow my career goals. ACS encouraged not only academic growth but also personal development, and I was fortunate to have teachers and mentors who pushed me to excel. Today, as the Administrative Assistant for Support Services at the Central Office, I continue to rely on the skills, lessons, and values I learned at ACS. I’m proud to contribute back to the district that helped shape my success. I’ll always value my time at ACS. Happy 120th anniversary, ACS!

#120YearsOfACS | In celebration of 120 years of Asheboro City Schools, we asked members of our Alumni, who are now employees, to tell their ACS Story in exactly 120 words.?? Here is Laura King, AHS Class of 2008, past ACS Teacher of the Year, and now Instructional Facilitator at Charles W. McCrary Elementary: Asheboro City Schools has been a positive part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was first a Teachey Tiger, then a SAMS Comet, and I am a proud 2008 graduate of Asheboro High School. I currently work at McCrary Elementary School. I have the BEST memories from growing up in ACS, including the wonderful relationships that I had with my teachers, traveling abroad during my senior year to Spain with Mrs. Domally, playing tennis for the Blue Comets, and serving as the yearbook editor. The sense of community found here cannot be matched. I met my husband at AHS in 2004 and love that we are raising our two children to be future Blue Comets!

#120YearsOfACS | In celebration of 120 years of Asheboro City Schools, we asked members of our Alumni, who are now employees, to tell their ACS Story in exactly 120 words.?? First up is Brian Nance, AHS PE Teacher and Varsity Basketball Coach: "As an elementary age student in ACS I began to take an interest in athletics at AHS. Martin Smith was just getting started in his storied coaching career. I was impacted by Coach Smith's teams and the way they performed. He was always sharp dressed and composed no matter the game situation. I knew back then that I wanted to someday follow in his footsteps. Who knew that my dream would one day come true? It took quite a journey being employed in Randolph County School but finally in April of 2006 the opportunity arose. The last nineteen years of my life have been the most rewarding of my career. I'm fortunate to be a part of the Asheboro City Schools System."
