Accelerating the most exciting climate innovators.

关于我们

Ashden's mission is to accelerate transformative climate solutions and build a more just world. Our awards, events, networks and analysis support outstanding climate innovation. We boost the pioneers delivering a zero carbon future – and creating new jobs, better health, and stronger communities along the way. Our work switches on clean energy for rural villages and refugee camps. It tackles fuel poverty, by making homes warm and energy-efficient. It powers green jobs, and zero-carbon schools. It defends and restores nature. And it supports local climate action, so everyone can shape – and benefit from – the journey to a fair and sustainable tomorrow. We create change with support for trailblazing organisations, such as grants, learning opportunities, publicity, and connections to funders and investors. And we use their stories to inspire and guide politicians and other decision makers, raising ambition and revealing the power of inclusive climate action. Find out more at www.ashden.org.

UK Policy Lead at Ashden Climate Solutions

The Chancellor is right to focus on Britain’s future and seizing the opportunities in a changing world — but that future hinges on bold climate action and energy security at home, not just more bombs and drones.   At the upcoming Spending Review, ministers must protect and deliver in full on manifesto commitments like Great British Energy, the Warm Homes Plan and investment in our education system — cutting these areas would leave the UK less secure, with higher energy bills, and an increasingly uncertain future for our children and young people.   With the UK’s green economy growing three times faster than the rest of the economy and the global economy facing potential 50% GDP losses this century from climate impacts, ambitious investment in homegrown clean energy, warm homes and resilient communities is vital to protect prosperity and security. #SpringStatement #NetZero #ClimateAction #GreenJobs #EnergySecurity #FuelPoverty #CommunityEnergy #Retrofit #LetsGoZero

🎙️Missed our Head of Let's Go Zero, Alex Green, on LBC? They discussed Great British Energy's announcement to install solar panels on schools. Catch up now: https://bit.ly/4iLeQXy Schools are central to the government's clean power and opportunity missions, yet many urgently need retrofitting to withstand a changing climate. The support announced last week from Great British Energy will help schools across the country replicate solar initiatives, helping the schools save much needed funds as well as being proactive on reducing carbon emissions. This #IntlForestDay, we are celebrating organisations that work hand-in-hand with forest communities. By strengthening the incomes and rights of local and Indigenous communities, we’re directly supporting them to protect and preserve our global forests! With our backing through the Thriving Forests programme, Cameroon Gender and Environment Watch (CAMGEW) will soon build a new agroecology centre where farmers can: 🍯 Train in sustainable practices e.g. honey production. 💼 Boost incomes and build resilience to climate change 👫 Bring together 10 community co-operatives to share ideas and solutions 🐝 Sell locally produced goods, such as honey and other agroecology products. This centre will accelerate the adoption of CAMGEW’s forest-protection model, based on sustainable honey production, and extend forest conservation efforts across the biologically important Cameroon Highlands region. CEO of Ashden Climate Solutions and Chair of the London Sustainable Development Commission

Well done for this really important piece of work, Emma Howard Boyd CBE and Public First. Thank you for inviting me to join the advisory board and sit alongside some really impressive people.. The substantial harmful, human impacts aside, not investing in flood prevention will hit productivity and inhibit growth, play into the hands of those who say government is more concerned about wind turbines than people's lives and ignore the clear concerns that people have about how climate change will hit their wellbeing and security. At Ashden we work with communities, enterprises and councils who are dong amazing work to build local resilience and adaptation. But only government can do the big stuff. I really hope HMG, and Treasury in particular, will take heed of this vital report.

Chair, Non Executive Director, Trustee and Advisor

As the former Chair of the Environment Agency, I have travelled the country meeting people who have been flooded out of their homes. I have experienced people’s anger and sense of betrayal, and I have also seen the economic impacts worsen. In recent months I have been working with Public First on a piece of economic and public polling research. Today, we published “From risk to resilience: The case for flood-resilient communities, economy and growth”, which makes immediate recommendations for policymakers. By 2050, 46% of roads, 54% of railways and 8 million properties will be at risk of flooding in England alone, but my message is about lives and livelihoods right now. Our report says the Spending Review is a critical moment to set out plans to invest in flood defences. We recommend aligning flood investment with the 10-year Infrastructure Strategy and requiring the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority to track flood and wider climate resilience across government infrastructure spending. The report’s economic research finds that each year, an average of 700 flood events are recorded in England causing immediate physical damage to property and infrastructure and costing £2.4bn annually. Climate change and lack of maintenance mean these costs continue to increase; by 2050, we expect immediate annual damages of £3.6bn. Further, each year of flood events causes a decade-long downward pressure on the economy worth at least £6.1bn. Flooding means employment is 46,000 lower than it would otherwise be. Last week, the Prime Minister talked about “National security for national renewal.” Every £1 invested in flood defences prevents around £8 of damage - and £3 of that is a direct saving to the government because more than a third of the damage is to publicly owned infrastructure like roads, railways, schools and hospitals. Public First’s research people are most likely to say flooding must be managed for national security reasons, including safety of British citizens. Last year, flooding in Valencia killed 224 people, over half of them aged over 70. In the UK, the science is clear we are on borrowed time before we see death tolls on a similar scale. https://lnkd.in/evFzHEbe Amy Norman Prof. (Dr) Anusha Shah Ashok Sinha Dr Candice Howarth Helen Meech Kathryn Brown Kit England Daisy Powell-Chandler Ben Savours Sunita Pfitzner Gabriel Hill Baroness Brown Julia King DBE FREng FRS FMedSci Toby Harris Mary Long-Dhonau OBE Professor Denise Bower OBE Bevis Watts Harry Bowell Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change & the Environment National Preparedness Commission Ashden National Trust

Local enterprises have the potential to transform economies, health, and education but often struggle to secure the right finance. Our Powering Clean Energy Investment programme is driving the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Global South, bringing the benefits of energy access to the world’s most marginalised communities. We’re helping them unlock their full potential with: ✅ Unrestricted development grants ✅ Technical assistance ✅ Strategic communications support We've revealed the first six organisations to receive grants and guidance - read about them here: https://bit.ly/4hEuClj #CleanEnergy #EnergyAccess
