Project Win: Major PV and BESS Project in California ASEC Engineers is proud to announce that we have been awarded the engineering services contract for a PV and BESS generating facility in California, currently in the design phase. The project includes designing and implementing a 125 MW PV array, 230kV gen-tie transmission line, 230/34.5kV substation, and 31.25 MW/125 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Our scope covers civil, structural, and electrical engineering, system studies, and SCADA/BOP design. This project will integrate renewable energy into the utility grid, aligning with California's clean energy initiatives. We'd like to introduce you to Liam Redo, EIT from our San Diego office. Liam is a strong asset to the A-Team due to his creativity, his passion for positively affecting the world through his work, and his warm interpersonal energy. Get to know a little more about this great guy! Q: What made you choose the field of Engineering? A: I’ve always enjoyed taking things apart to try and figure out how they work. As I got older, I gravitated towards school programs that gave me hands-on experience with design and CAD based 3D modeling. By the time I got to college, I was dead set on majoring in Engineering. Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years? A: Hopefully, I’ll have won the lottery. But career wise, I’d like to get into making more custom, specialized, one-off designs, like the ones some of the more senior members at ASEC have had a hand in creating. I also write fiction as a hobby; I’d love to get published someday. Q: What qualities do you bring to ASEC Engineers? A: I like to think I lighten the mood at the office, and I help with completing complex projects on tight deadlines. Q: How do your personal and career goals align? A: I always dreaded the prospect of having a job that doesn’t matter, that doesn’t produce anything tangible or important.
