Yesterday’s ASCE STL luncheon was a full house as Dr. Joel Burken presented on ‘The Civil Engineering Workforce of the Future,’ addressing the unique challenges and critical actions needed to strengthen our profession. We also had the honor of presenting alongside MSPE St. Louis Chapter at SLU. Dr. Burken shared insights on the high demand for civil engineers following landmark investments in infrastructure, paired with a shrinking workforce and the need to build a more resilient and diverse future in engineering. We also had the honor of celebrating Dr. Burken’s incredible contributions to the field, as he received the ASCE President’s Medal from 2024 ASCE President Marsia Geldert-Murphey.
