AI misdiagnosed a patient leading to the wrong aggressive treatment. Here’s the big takeaway: 1.AI must prove itself to be a tool with more benefits than risks in healthcare and everywhere AI is considered a replacement for humans. 2. When should AI totally replace human physicians in healthcare and society? If/when wellness of the patient and humanity is NOT the primary goal. Which should be NEVER. Alignment with human #ethics and values is imperative. #AI #healthcare #humanity #humanfirst

The AI gave a clear diagnosis. The doctor trusted it. The only problem? The AI was wrong. A year ago, I was called in to consult for a global healthcare company. They had implemented an AI diagnostic system to help doctors analyze thousands of patient records rapidly. The promise? Faster disease detection, better healthcare. Then came the wake-up call. The AI flagged a case with a high probability of a rare autoimmune disorder. The doctor, trusting the system, recommended an aggressive treatment plan. But something felt off. When I was brought in to review, we discovered the AI had misinterpreted an MRI anomaly. The patient had an entirely different condition—one that didn’t require aggressive treatment. A near-miss that could have had serious consequences. As AI becomes more integrated into decision-making, here are three critical principles for responsible implementation: - Set Clear Boundaries Define where AI assistance ends and human decision-making begins. Establish accountability protocols to avoid blind trust. - Build Trust Gradually Start with low-risk implementations. Validate critical AI outputs with human intervention. Track and learn from every near-miss. - Keep Human Oversight AI should support experts, not replace them. Regular audits and feedback loops strengthen both efficiency and safety. At the end of the day, it’s not about choosing AI ???? human expertise. It’s about building systems where both work together—responsibly. ?? What’s your take on AI accountability? How are you building trust in it?

A couple of days ago I highlighted #cybersecurity concerns for people tempted to download DeepSeek #AI. Recent developments create real security concerns, greater than TikTok. The ability for users to run DeepSeek locally (on the device) extends cybersecurity vulnerabilities to users. In the wake of DeepSeek’s release, U.S. AI and tech infrastructure companies lost around $2 trillion market capitalization. DeepSeek then experienced a cyberattack. This attack exposed security vulnerabilities of DeepSeek AI. These vulnerabilities extend to individuals and employees who download the app. Cybersecurity expert Andy Jenkinson outlines a few below, including compromised IPv4 addresses, invalid digital certificates, insecure DNS configurations, (http vs https) Andy emphasizes unusual ports like 8123 and 9000 were identified, all of which which makes DeepSeek servers vulnerable to exploitation and raises red flags about the DeepSeek’s security protocols and data integrity. Protect your business. Protect yourself. #privacy #intellectualproperty #business #data #leadership #deepseek

The Deepseek Cybersecurity Debacle: A Stark Warning for AI and The world. On November 10, 1942, Winston Churchill said this: “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” Shortly after President Trump announced a $500 billion investment in AI over the next five years and lauded DeepSeek AI as a model for American firms—the tech sector faced a seismic shock. A staggering $2 trillion was wiped from U.S. market capitalization in hours, followed by a cyberattack on DeepSeek AI itself. The attack has exposed DeepSeek AI’s glaring security lapses: compromised IPv4 addresses, invalid digital certificates, insecure DNS configurations, and servers vulnerable to exploitation. Adding to the concerns, unusual ports like 8123 and 9000 were identified in play, raising red flags about the firm’s security protocols and data integrity. DeepSeek AI's questionable data practices and alignment with China cast doubt on its trustworthiness. Yet, in a digital era where "free" services mean users become the product, DeepSeek AI’s failings differ from its U.S. counterparts only in ownership. The broader issue remains—AI firms, regardless of nationality, must prioritize cybersecurity and transparency. Otherwise, both investors and users remain at the mercy of hidden vulnerabilities and data manipulation on an unprecedented scale resulting in foreseeable and preventable cybercrime, fraud, economic and societal discord. Another AI safety researcher leaves OpenAI, “terrified by the pace of AI development” adding, “No lab has a solution to AI alignment today. And the faster we race, the less likely that anyone finds one in time." In time for what? The end of life as we know it? We often speak about #Ethics. #AI Alignment is part of ethical, responsible development of technology that reflects and respects humans, their freedoms, goals and values, vs. harming them. The more we hear, the more real imminent threats from the acceleration of artificial intelligence become. Who is representing the best interest of humanity? What will we tell our children? Will there be future generations of children to tell? This researcher seems to wonder whether humanity will survive that long. This is not a test. Want to get involved ? Please DM me or follow Ascently Institute, Inc. a 501c3 nonprofit I started that is launching several initiatives to educate and promote respect for humans. Donations and support welcome and appreciated. Thank you Thank you Pascal Hetzscholdt for continuing to shed light on accelerating threats to humanity. #ethics #nonprofit #fundraiser

Quote: "OpenAI?safety researcher?Steven Adler announced on Monday?he had left OpenAI late last year after four years at the company. In a post shared on X, Adler criticized a race toward AGI that is taking shape between leading AI labs and global superpowers. "An AGI race is a very risky gamble, with huge downside," he said. "No lab has a solution to AI alignment today. And the faster we race, the less likely that anyone finds one in time." Alignment is the process of keeping AI working toward human goals and values, not against them. Adler worked as an AI safety lead at OpenAI, leading safety-related research and programs for product launches and speculative long-term AI systems, per his?LinkedIn?profile. He's also listed as an author on?several of OpenAI's blog posts. In the X post announcing his exit from the company, he called his time at OpenAI "a wild ride with lots of chapters," adding he would "miss many parts of it." However, he said he was personally "pretty terrified by the pace of AI development." "When I think about where I'll raise a future family, or how much to save for retirement, I can't help but wonder: Will humanity even make it to that point?" he said." DISRUPTION = OPPORTUNITY. What every company with intellectual property can takeaway from China $6 Million investment to create DeepSeek, a challenger to OpenAI, which to date has raised a total of $17.9 billion. DeepSeek claims one AI model outperforms OpenAI’s o1-mini on certain benchmarks, and is releasing six smaller versions of R1 small enough to run locally on laptops. DeepSeek was founded in July 2023 in China by Liang Wenfeng, an alumnus of Zhejiang University with a background in information and electronic engineering. Sam Altman vs Liang Wenfeng Liang Wenfeng shares Sam Altman and OpenAI’s aspirations to build artificial general intelligence (AGI), that matches or exceeds human abilities. DeepSeek is open source. OpenAI was originally founded to be a nonprofit with an open source approach toward developing safe AI, according to statements made by Elon Musk who claimed he left the organization when it abandoned OpenAI when it shifted to closed source, private companies-any and decided to the new definition of AGI was AI that generates $100 billion in revenue vs. the traditional definition defining AGI by ability (exceeding human intelligence.) OpenAI is expected to generate $3.6 billion in revenue amid losses in excess of $5 billion. To date, OpenAI has raised a total of $17.9 billion, $6.6 billion of which was raised in its most recent round. (link below). OpenAI is reportedly undergoing corporate restructuring that would grant Altman equity. Disruption created by US issued export controls on advanced chips led China AI companies like DeepSeek to adapt innovation to prioritize efficiency, collaboration, and pooling of resources. “DeepSeek is going to challenge Silicon Valley’s leadership, disrupting the global tech landscape and reshaping the direction of the AI arms race. The launch of this innovation underscores a historic pivot in the balance of technological power. U.S. Big Tech, long considered untouchable, is facing credible and intensifying competition from China,” deVere Group CEO, Nigel Green, told Bloomberg (link below). ADAPT or DIE “DeepSeek has largely replicated o1-mini and has open sourced it,” tweeted Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, according to MIT Technology Review. (Link below) Replicate typically = copy. AI is replacing human creators (writers, artists, filmmakers, actors, etc. ), strategists, computer programmers, engineers, and architects at record speed. WHAT YOU CAN DO After being criticized for years now for urging tech professionals and businesses across multiple industries to strategically plan innovation that offsets acceleration of #AI. This new reality is a wake up call for ALL companies built on #intellectualproperty. Are you a CEO, executive, or business owner interested in strategic innovation & future-proofing your company? Are humans unique or exceptional? Or, must they submit to their creation? Facts: AI is not a species, contrary to what some believe. Intelligent machines are the creation of humans. Humans are the most intelligent life form on the planet, and cosmos. AI is made “intelligent” from the aggregation of human genius, creations, inventions, literature, music, communication, and other forms of data. AI has demonstrated “self-preservation” while humans are being led to believe biological humans are obsolete. What is unknown: Whether a biological species hell bent on replacing itself with artificial life (extinction) can be considered “intelligent.” What do you think? #ai #life #future #extinction

Galileo moved Earth from the center of the universe. Darwin linked us to apes. Freud exposed our unconscious mind. Now AI challenges our last claim to uniqueness. I often observe a peculiar resistance to artificial intelligence. People keep moving the goalposts of what constitutes "real" intelligence, dismissing each AI achievement as "just computation" or "mere pattern matching." For some, the definition of AI is "whatever cannot be done by machines." That can't be right. Sigmund Freud described three great humiliations of humanity. First, Galileo showed we are not the center of the universe. Then Darwin revealed we are not the pinnacle of creation. Finally, Freud himself proposed we are not even masters of our own minds. Each discovery challenged our sense of human uniqueness. Today, AI presents us with a fourth humiliation: intelligence is not uniquely human. This strikes at the core of our identity. We have long prided ourselves on our exclusive capacity for complex thought, creativity, and reasoning. Now, machines demonstrate capabilities we once thought were ours alone. Yet, just as refusing to accept heliocentrism did not place Earth back at the center of the universe, denying AI's capabilities will not preserve human exclusivity. The question is not whether to accept this new reality, but how to adapt and grow with it. Big shout out to Helmut Wasserbacher, CFA for the idea of this post! #AI #intelligence #Freud #whatmakesushuman ___ Enjoyed this post? Like ??, comment ??, or re-post ?? to share with others.

Fighting like brothers : Elon Musk (Tesla / SpaceX, X, xAI) and Sam Altman (OpenAI, Stargate) are openly throwing shade as they openly debate the relationship of big tech and government. Yesterday, President Trump announced the $500B Stargate #AI project from the White house… Some have called tech billionaires “broligarchs” or “tech bros”. Today, these men seem to be fighting over the attention and favor of the U.S. government. Stargate is not a government-funded initiative. However, The Guardian reported Trump has indicated supporting Stargate with executive orders and emergency powers to make energy available, including them having their own power plants. (Some are reportedly eyeing old shuttered nuclear power plants) This debate and negative attention has taken the shine off what was likely meant to show American leadership and power…even among supporters. What role should government play in choosing winners and losers in business? Where is the ethical oversight to protect Americans and the world from these men who are acting like jealous children (from a mothers perspective.) Can these parties be trusted with American’s genetic data, privacy, government secrets, etc? #ai #energy #privacy #government #law #trump #stargate #ethics

Highlights from the White House today: President Trump: $500 Billion dollar investment. Goal is to build AI physical infrastructure to enable AI to be “made in the USA.” Ten buildings currently planned to be built, including data centers and physical campuses, currently being scouted. Ellison: One objective is to centralize data to facilitate(AI-GUIDED) health plans to improve efficiency of health plans. Ellison referenced AI would enable gene sequencing of a person to create a unique MRNA vaccine for them. Son : goal to make $100 Billion dollars. AGI is coming soon. AGI is not the goal. Super Artificial Intelligence is the priority. Altman : Believes AI will enable technology to “cure diseases” at a rapid rate. Nividia, Microsoft were mentioned as supporting partners of the STARTGATE. UPDATE: Outside the White House, the 3 CEOs answered a few questions. Sam Altman stated he believed STARGATE would enable the U.S. to lead with AGI. When asked bout guardrails and safety of AI; Altman said “There a hundreds of millions of people are using it.” …If you look at the safety record, the benefits outweigh the downside. The scale is huge with this investment. Altman: conformed 1st STARGATE facility will be in Texas. Son said pooling resources will enable them to do what is good for humanity. Ellison said they would be handing over the facility to Sam (Altman) / OpenAI to build the next scale AI solution. Where we never run into a Covid epidemic again. AI Agents will do more than sell (As CEO of Salesforce states intention to create a billion AI Agents) AI agents will replace humans with skills machines do not have, like empathy, values, and love. I can’t speak for anyone else. I would much rather have a human nurse at my side before and after a procedure than nothing but AI-directed machines and apps. What about you? Would you prefer human or AI managing your care and making decisions about your and yoir family’s health, urgent care or emergency-room visits, caring for you or loved ones facing life-threatening illness or injury?
