This past weekend, we had the joy of hosting our annual NICU Reunion at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown, themed around an exciting outer space adventure. Seeing our NICU graduates, those tiny astronauts who’ve now grown into cosmic heroes, was nothing short of extraordinary. Their stories of strength, resilience and perseverance continue to inspire us. It was heartwarming to witness the reunions between our NICU staff and the children they cared for in those critical early days. Events like these truly highlight the long-lasting impact of compassionate care and advanced neonatal medicine. A huge thank you to all who attended and made this day so special. Your journeys remind us every day that, with the right care and support, there are no limits to what we can achieve—the sky isn't the limit, it's just the beginning.

This week, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for the newly expanded Lee and Susan Moss Family NICU at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford. The significant renovation is designed to enhance patient care through updated facility features, offering improved support for families and upholding the exceptional treatment provided by the medical staff. With Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford caring for an average of 421 NICU infants annually, the expansion has increased the NICU’s capacity from 16 to 22 bassinets—an increase of more than 35 percent. It was a SIGNificant week yet again for our staff. The teams at Highpoint Health -- Riverview and Highpoint Health -- Trousdale both commemorated the installation of their new building signs, the visual representation of our new brand announced about 9 months ago. Hartsville Mayor Jack McCall and Representative William Slater joined us at our Trousdale campus to support the deepening partnership with Ascension Saint Thomas, and CEO Rod Harkleroad affirmed to the Riverview team that the new sign symbolizes a history of great care and a future of more access.
