Last Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Amanda Kunash, chief nursing officer for Ascension Alexian Brothers, and Morgan Cottrell MBA, BSN, CCRN-K, the hospital’s director of clinical operations, were recognized by their healthcare peers in the Chicago Health Executives Forum (CHEF). Presented at the group’s annual meeting, Amanda received a 2025 Healthcare Leadership Award, which honors mid-career professionals with a?sustained commitment to the local community which has fostered advancement of the field of healthcare management.?Morgan was honored with a 2025 Young Healthcare Executive Award, given to emerging leaders under 40 years of age who have made a meaningful impact on the healthcare community. Amanda and Morgan exemplify leadership within Ascension Illinois, as well as dedication to advancing healthcare management. We were proud mark the transition of several of our Ascension hospitals in Illinois to Prime Healthcare with a special Mass this past week. Polly Davenport, D.Sc.,RN, FACHE, senior vice president and ministry market CEO, and John L. Halstead, our chief mission integration officer, offered warm wishes and blessings to welcome the Prime team to Chicago. This transition marks a new chapter for both organizations. To kick off Heart Health Month, Ascension Saint Alexius, Ascension Saint Joseph Elgin and Hanover Township, in partnership with Illinois State Senator Cristina Castro, hosted a Heart Health Awareness & Screening Event on Saturday, February 8th.? Thank you to our Team Ascension Volunteers for giving back to the community and helping provide the health screenings for this event. Approximately 100 screenings were provided to participants at NO COST.
