Reflecting on the incredible experiences and discussions from Ascend Leadership's Annual Convention, the Ascend North Texas leadership team is excited to share our convention highlights! With over 100+ attendees from the North Texas Chapter and over 18 representatives from our board and leadership team, we were a force to be reckon with! Ascend North Texas was recognized as one of the elite chapters in the network in terms of membership growth, programming, community service, and sponsorship. Here are some of our convention highlights: 1. Rebecca Caleb & Lumia Z. from our leadership team spoke on the impact of our chapter's Ascend Cares initiative, where our chapter worked with Bank of America to provide Financial Literacy to the Dallas Chin Community. 2. Huy Doan accepted the 2024 ERG Impact Award on behalf of Toyota. 3. Shekar Katuri, CFA and Mai Nguyen represented the North Texas chapter and their respective companies by speaking in separate panel sessions centered on the Future of AI and Navigating Wellness While Managing a Busy Career. 4. Our Chapter Co-President, Shuba Balasubramanian, was the Master of Ceremonies for the closing gratitude dinner and provided a platform to recognize talented youth within our community. We are so proud of our leadership team for their contributions to Ascend and our chapter!

In honor of the 2024 Cricket T20 World Cup, last weekend our chapter hosted a Cricket social as part of our prep for the Ascend National Convention at 22 Yards in Dallas! Our members had the opportunity to learn how to bat, bowl, and field and connect with each other before heading to Vegas. Thank you to everyone who came out and joined in on the fun! Our Leadership Team is specially thankful to Chintan Thakkar for hosting the event and showing us his pro skills! We hope to see you all at National Convention! ?? ??

LEADERSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Lisa M. Ong, PCC, CPA, is an award-winning consultant, speaker, and executive coach. Known as a "talent gardener" and "inclusion connector," she attracts top-tier leaders. Her clients rely on her for people strategy, career mentoring, coaching, and leadership development. Before founding Wishing Out Loud LLC in 2020, she was a national diversity director at PwC and held roles as an HR director and audit senior manager. Lisa earned her BBA in Accounting from UT Austin and her MS in Management from UT Dallas. Recognized in D CEO Magazine's Dallas 500 for the fourth year in 2024, she was named 2023 Visionary of the Year by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and won a 2022 Leaders in Diversity Award from the Dallas Business Journal. Lisa is active with the Orchid Giving Circle, Ascend North Texas, Infusion Nurses Society, and serves as coaching faculty for Linkage Women in Leadership Institute and Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics. She is also a member of the International Coach Federation-North Texas and the Workplace Programs Advisory Committee for the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding. Additionally, she is a past President of the Dallas chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs. FUN FACTS: 1. Her husband, Chester, and daughter, Madison, are also Ascend Members. 2. She is passionate about the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and saving lives from blood cancer.
