Behavioral health crises continue to be on the rise. Recent data indicates that nearly 60 million adults (23.08%) in the U.S. experienced a mental illness in the past year, with almost 13 million adults (5.04%) reporting serious thoughts of suicide. Additionally, more than 45 million adults (17.82%) are experiencing substance use challenges. Even more concerning, the majority of individuals struggling with substance use in the U.S. are not receiving treatment. Of those 45 million adults, 77% did not receive treatment. For individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises, timely intervention can be the difference between a cycle of relapse, placing pressure on our health and public safety systems, or a pathway to recovery. We're excited to announce that the OneOhio Recovery Foundation has awarded us grant funding to support the Dayton Regional Pathways HUB! Ascend will partner with the Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association to implement our Crisis Notification system, alerting community health workers when an individual experiences a behavioral health or substance use crisis. I'm seeking an independent software engineering contractor to augment our team at Ascend Innovations for an upcoming project. The primary need is front-end development, but there is also considerable backend work we could use support on. We use the following tech stack: ? Javascript/SvelteKit ? PostGreSQL/Prisma ? Python/Django ??D3.js ??Leaflet.js We're working on a 4-5 month build project to develop a new data system and interface for a community health client. Ideally, this person would integrate with our core team and be available for additional contract needs as projects spin up and down. Creating transparency and visibility of community behavioral health trends, programs, and services can encourage collaboration and understanding. Especially when it comes to how funding is allocated.
