Thank you to Claire Fiddian-Green and the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation for the opportunity to support this work. The efforts of #CEMETS #iLabIndiana over the past year have been critical to thinking about how our state can continue to grow the number of youth apprenticeship opportunities and design a professional education and training pathway.
It's been nearly a year since we kicked off #CEMETS #iLabIndiana, and I am inspired by how far we have come. In these past several months, we have created a statewide coalition totaling more than 200 Hoosier leaders in business, education, government, and the non-profit sector. These leaders are working actively to design and implement a statewide professional education and training pathway rooted in a youth apprenticeship starting in the 11th grade, spanning all industries. We released a detailed strategic plan (https://lnkd.in/gK8wAy3j), and we are taking active steps to implement that plan – including launching industry talent associations. I want to thank each of the members of CEMETS iLab Indiana for their hard work and dedication, especially my co-chair David Becker and our colleagues at Ascend Indiana and the Indy Chamber for their amazing partnership. I would also be remiss not to thank the gracious experts from Switzerland advising our work: Drs. Ursula Renold and Katie Caves. I look forward to seeing the progress we make over the next year! #NAW2024

Ivy Tech Community College is delivering semiconductor certificate programs at three Indiana campuses, training Hoosiers to fill the growing number of jobs in Indiana’s burgeoning semiconductor industry. Ivy Tech’s Molly Dodge says the microelectronics curriculum is being developed in coordination with industry to meet workforce needs. “We call that co-producing talent at Ivy Tech,” she said. “That’s really what we’re looking for in any sector and with all employers.” ??: The Republic

Ascend's Consulting Analyst, Liz Sathe, had the opportunity to moderate a panel discussion spotlighting different Future Educator Pathway Programs across the state last week. It was a wonderful discussion elevating the structures of each program and uncovering key lessons learned from the experiences of each organization in designing and implementing these programs for youth in their regions. Special thanks to the panelists for sharing their insights and to everyone who participated in the conversation. These discussions are vital in shaping the future of the teaching workforce and creating meaningful opportunities for young people to explore careers in education.

We’re excited to announce the next steps toward building Indiana’s new apprenticeship pathway!?? ? In September, the #CEMETS #iLabIndiana strategic plan identified BioCrossroads, Conexus Indiana, and Indiana Bankers Association as the organizations best positioned to form talent associations in four industries facing projected talent shortfalls.? ? Today, the Fairbanks Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded grants to fund the creation of talent associations in healthcare, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing and logistics! The Fairbanks Foundation expects to award a similar grant for a banking talent association in early 2025.? ?
