Thank you to the Air Force Academy for hosting us on a tour of the Academy and the Civil Engineering Department.
Today we had the pleasure of hosting current Treasurer and ASCE President-Elect Marsha Anderson Bomar, Ph.D., AICP, ENV SP, F.ASCE, H.ITE at the United States Air Force Academy! Along with Wanxin (Rachel) Huang, P.E., Sam Acosta, and Liz Staten, they toured our FERL facilities and lab, met with cadets who discussed their Capstone projects, and enjoyed lunch with our faculty. We're grateful for the opportunity to share our work and connect with such distinguished professionals! We are excited to announce Elizabeth Ruedas, PE as our speaker and facilitator for the YMLS Alumni Summit held in person in Houston, TX from September 13-15, 2024! Elizabeth Ruedas works closely with municipalities, land developers, utility companies, and business owners under the regulation of the California State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This experience has exposed her to the inner-workings of municipal stormwater programs, both in how to develop the program elements and how to effectively design, implement, manage, and maintain them. Her experience has covered a variety of program elements with special focus on developing guidance documents, compliance procedures, staff training (in English and Spanish), onsite inspections, asset management databases, audit preparation, best management practices (BMPs), and annual reporting. Elizabeth has also recently served on the ASCE Board of Direction as an At-Large Director, as well as on the Committee on Younger Members, and the Public Policy & Practice Committee. In and out of work, Elizabeth loves inspiring, educating, and empowering others to help us move towards a more sustainable future. She not only focuses on sustainable infrastructure solutions, but also helps bring awareness to sustainable living, which includes zero waste, minimalism, urban gardening, cloth diapering, and following a whole food, plant-based diet.
