CEO at the Institute of School Business Leadership. The world's first dedicated school business institute.

Institute of School Business Leadership ASBO International We’ve spent over 10 years engaging in meaningful collaboration with international colleagues. Indeed, the English SBP relationship with American School Business Officials goes back more than 2 decades. Conversations between the National College, ASBO Intl and other international academics (including Prof Karen Starr and our Patron Dr Liz Wood) were instrumental in developing numerous SBP development programmes. During the peak of the pandemic ISBL led regular discussions with global SBP leaders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. We gained enourmous strength by sharing our experiences. Last year we collaborated with US Districts and ASBO Intl as part of our research work into Operational Excellence. A year on and I’m back in the US at their Leadership Forum sharing the OpEx Framework and the new training curriculum that we subsequently developed. Simultaneously I am participating in an executive leadership development symposium where many of the themes being explored have a clear read across to the 10 domains set out in the OpEx Framework. It is an undeniable truth that educators and school buiness professional across the globe are grappling with very similar issues. · Political and policy uncertainty · Insufficient funding · An urgent need to identify efficiency and capacity gains · Education too low on government agendas · Poverty and disadvantage · High Needs · Infrastructure · The level of investment in the workforce · Trying to make sense of a new digital era Being amongst international colleagues and having the opportunity to discuss and work through these complex issues is invaluable.
