??ICYMI, ASBC Co-founder and President David Levine, and Executive Director Camilla Taylor were quoted in this excellent article from GlobalCapital: https://lnkd.in/gxFRwdE4 ??"“There have been multiple attempts to move [anti-ESG] legislation at Federal level,” said David Levine, president of the American Sustainable Business Council. “We would assume that they will continue. We along with our network will step up and speak out.” The ASBC with legal group Democracy Forward is suing the state of Texas to challenge its law SB-13, which excludes from state contracts financial or industrial companies that advocate reducing reliance on fossil fuels, including using ESG metrics. The suit is on behalf of Etho Capital and Sphere, two responsible investment firms Texas has blacklisted. The complaint argues the law violates constitutional free speech and association rights, is bad for business, harms economic growth and innovation and costs Texas taxpayers money. “We are going to see over the next few years a real moment for these large companies, where they know these laws are bad for business,” said Camilla Taylor, executive director of the ASBC. “They don’t increase shareholder value, but they’ve been politicized. Large companies are going to need to reconcile the cost-benefit of [attracting political heat] versus making decisions that are good for business.” Whether sustainability can be preserved as a business aim will depend to a large extent on whether big and powerful companies, especially financial firms, are willing to defend their adherence to it." ??Read the rest: https://lnkd.in/gxFRwdE4

??From day one at #COP29, negotiators came to a decision on Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement. Negotiators briefed business leaders on the recently approved Article 6 language, which establishes guidelines for the international trading of carbon credits. If effectively implemented, this could unleash vast capital for climate action through a standardized carbon market.
