Chemical Watch News recently featured insights from Martin Wolf, ASBN’s Senior Advisor on Safer Chemicals & Circular Economy, commenting on the Vermont House's vote to advance H 238, a significant step towards expanding the state’s PFAS ban. Martin recently testified before the state house in support of the bill and feels optimistic that it will be passed in the Senate. “However, this is not assured and cannot be taken for granted,” he said. At ASBN, we advocate for safer chemicals that address today’s needs without compromising health or the environment. ASBC Board Member Sandra McCardell and Dr. Eric Griego, co-founders of ASBN State Affiliate SEEDNM, are bringing the sustainable business perspective to a revision of Bernalillo County’s Economic Development Policy and Procedures. The initial work session convened a diverse group of stakeholders to establish a shared vision for sustainable economic development. Sandra and Eric represented small businesses and local communities, highlighting the importance of inclusive growth. “It was an excellent beginning for a process that is critical to Bernalillo County, home to New Mexico's largest city as well as rural and underserved areas,” said Sandra. “As a small business owner, I was particularly interested to note that two of the commissioners own small businesses and understand many of our concerns.” We are excited to see states taking the lead and to see the progress of our affiliate SEEDNM as Bernalillo County works towards creating an economic development plan that not only generates wealth but also promotes sustainable business practices within the community. ????
