A key takeaway was the critical role of partnerships—from faith-based landholders to government incentives—in delivering equitable and inclusive housing for all. We’re proud to share that Administrative Operations Specialist Lauren Doiron had the honor of presenting with Shawna Pace-Powers of Stambaugh Ness at Deltek ProjectCon 2024 in Washington, DC. Her session, "Improve Projects and Team Culture Through Ajera Project Closeout Dashboards," showcased strategies for optimizing project management and fostering collaboration. Lauren and Director of Administrative Operations Hayley attended the conference to gather insights on best practices and innovations in Ajera software, bringing back actionable ideas to enhance our operations. The event provided a rich mix of technical learning, thought leadership, and engaging discussions with peers in the industry. The keynote sessions were truly inspiring. Jason Dorsey highlighted the unique strengths each generation brings to the workplace, while astronaut José Hernandez shared his journey from migrant farmworker to space station crew member, showcasing resilience and determination. His story, featured in A Million Miles Away, left a lasting impact. For our awe walk today, we strolled to Swede Hill Pocket Park from our Austin office and admired the majestic heritage oaks in the area. The 2024 Lands and Legacies Conference at George Ranch Historical Park was truly an incredible experience! It was wonderful to see government organizations, private organizations, and landowners discussing vital topics such as native plants, wildlife, water, and protecting Texas’s natural landscapes. In addition to these inspiring presentations, we enjoyed tours of the George Ranch prairie restoration, a demonstration of seed drilling, and the opportunity to connect with everyone who stopped by our booth. ??We are grateful for the chance to connect with our amazing community and exchange ideas about the future of our industry. Meet Marcus, the newest addition to the Asakura Robinson Houston office!? Marcus is a landscape designer who aspires to connect people with nature, while restoring nature’s circular systems. His passion for nature developed during his childhood and has blossomed into his choice of Landscape architecture as his ideal profession. Marcus has served as student project manager in state and national Landscape Architecture competitions. His designs focus on integrating nature and natural forms into urban and suburban environments, with a focus on remediation of those environments. Marcus values the sensory and therapeutic components of our natural world. He finds value in engaging with allied disciplines to offer a more holistic, multi-perspective approach to projects. His MLA thesis focused on the basis for play in children, and how aspects of survival and landscape engagement inform what landscape aspects and elements children seek in their outdoor playscapes.? He feels strongly that having children immersed in and interacting with nature will encourage them to be inspired, informed stewards of our planet. Beyond the studio, Marcus enjoys adventuring in natural habitats during all seasons, where he can birdwatch, hike, and take spectacular photographs.
