Yesterday, Margaret Robinson and Christina Moon participated in ASLA Advocacy Day at the Texas State Capitol, joining fellow landscape architects to champion policies that support communities across Texas. As landscape architects, we serve a vital role in creating resilient, sustainable, and equitable communities. During the meeting, they discussed three key legislative initiatives in the 89th Texas Legislative Session that align with these priorities: ? House Bill 1432 (Rep. Goodwin) ? Senate Bill 526 (Sen. Eckhardt) ? House Bill 866 (Rep. Reynolds) These bills support sustainable water use and water conservation practices, promoting environmental resilience, and advocating for vegetated infrastructure—critical for Texas’ future. Texas ASLA strongly supports their passage, as does Asakura Robinson!

Our team hit the trail at Lockwood South Park, part of Houston’s East End Master Plan, to inspect the concrete formwork! ??♀???♂? This 6-acre transformation is reshaping a portion of a 20-acre site into a vibrant community space through a public-private partnership. The park features shared-use paths, stormwater green infrastructure, an observatory hill, dog park, playground, and a 13-foot-wide wildflower-lined trail connecting Tony Marron Park to the county parking lot. Lockwood South Park fosters recreation, enhances connectivity, and reflects the East End’s vision for sustainable growth. Stay tuned as this dynamic park comes to life! ?? Photo by Tellepsen. Margaret, Christina, and Jessica had a blast sharing insights and swapping stories with fellow industry pros at the I-LinCP Invest in Women Forum! ???? From navigating career growth to embracing the unique strengths women bring to the AEC/O world, the discussion was all about intentional action and meaningful impact. The core of our presentation was how we mentor at all levels, including reverse mentorship and lateral mentorship. It left us thinking about what actions we as an organization can take to encourage all of our team to grow through every stage of our careers. Reach out if you’ve been thinking about this too and want to connect! #womenleaders #womeninleadership #mentor #aec #landscapearchitecture #urbanplanning
