?? The free tool for real-time gas station inventories that exposes a major security flaw in fuel management (and how to fix it) ?? What if we told you anyone could access real-time data of a gas station's tank levels, water and even deliveries – for free? ARUME shines a light on this hidden vulnerability. While we offer a convenient way to monitor gas station inventory, its true purpose is to create awareness about the unsecured and vulnerable tank gauges in the USA. We want to highlight the security gap that could be exploited by malicious actors. By making station inventory so accessible, ARUME hopes to incentivize owners to prioritize cybersecurity. Share this post to raise awareness about gas station vulnerabilities. If you're involved in the gas station industry, consider security audits and best practices to protect your stations - learn more at www.arume.org. Let's work together to ensure a more secure critical fuel infrastructure. #gasstationsecurity #cybersecurity #arume #informationsecurity #fuelmanagement

?? DDoS Attacks Expose Vulnerability in Gas Station Firewalls ?? Firewalls are supposed to protect systems, but a recent discovery has revealed an unexpected vulnerability they create for gas stations. The culprit? Publicly known IP addresses required for whitelisting servers that monitor automatic tank gauges. These IP addresses can be exploited by attackers to launch cheap and readily available Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, overwhelming the servers and shutting down communications to ALL gas station tank gauges. ? Are Your Gas Station's Tank Gauges Truly Secure and Compliant? Regulations require tank gauges to be certified and inspected periodically by technicians. But there's a critical compliance gap that traditional inspections overlook - internet-connected vulnerable tank gauges. ARUME has uncovered thousands of tank gauges accessible over the internet, allowing anyone to modify settings like leak testing, alarms, and calibration. This renders inspection data unreliable. Securing tank gauges from unauthorized access is crucial for true compliance. Proper site and tank identification is also key. ARUME provides a path forward: ? Regulatory bodies can use ARUME data to identify non-compliant stations with vulnerable gauges and issue fines ? Environmental groups gain visibility into potential leak risks ? Station owners have an incentive to prioritize security to avoid penalties and reputational damage Read the full article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gnu8wVhK #cybersecurity #infosec #environmentalcompliance #fuelmanagement
