Your guide to arts and culture in Westchester County.
关于我们
Established in 1965 as the Council for the Arts in Westchester, we are New York State’s largest private, not-for-profit service organization, working to ensure the availability and accessibility of the arts for all of the county’s residents. In 1975, we were named by Westchester County government as the County’s designated arts council and we became one of several united arts funds in the country, providing grants and technical support to cultural organizations and artist residencies in the community. Today, as ArtsWestchester, our board and staff continue to work to weave the arts into the fabric of Westchester life, strengthen the county’s cultural institutions, and enrich the quality of life for all Westchester’s residents. ArtsWestchester ? is the largest, private, nonprofit arts council in NY State ? serves more than 150 arts organizations, 43 school districts, hundreds of artists and audiences numbering over one million ? awards grants to artists and arts organizations ? brings artists to schools and community centers ? helps artists and arts organizations promote their work & build audiences ? is the premiere marketer of the arts in Westchester ? showcases the talents of local artists through our exhibitions & performances ? advocates for the arts ? owns and operates the Arts Exchange, a multi-use arts facility that houses the gallery and performance space, the Cultural Tourism Center, artists studios and office space for cultural groups arts related businesses

Phylisha Villanueva, Westchester County’s second poet laureate, describes herself as a jazz poet. In fact, she has been performing with the Jazz & Poetry Choir Collective (J&PCC) since its founding in 2011. This form of poetry uses rhythms and patterns, and relies heavily on improvisation and spontaneity, similar to the musical form from which it has earned its moniker. The J&PCC will perform as part of JazzFest White Plains this week (9/11) in our gallery! JazzFest is organized by ArtsWestchester, White Plains BID and the City of White Plains. We are excited to announce that at our benefit concert featuring The Wallflowers on Nov. 12, we will be honoring Deputy Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins. “Jenkins has strengthened the public-private partnership between the arts and government by supporting innovative programs such as ArtsWestchester’s Art$WChallenge Grant program and ArtsMobile services,” said ArtsWestchester CEO Kathleen Reckling. “He recognizes arts and culture in Westchester as a critical economic engine and has always worked with ArtsWestchester to ensure the accessibility and diversity of the arts for residents, particularly those in our underserved communities.” Jenkins’ community involvement includes service on the boards of the Greyston Foundation, the United Way, the Westchester County District Attorney’s Community Advisory Committee, Westchester County Crime stoppers and the Community Planning Council of Yonkers. He was President for over five years of the Yonkers Branch of the NAACP. He also has served as President of the Yonkers Community Action Program.
