Incredible work by Studio Artist Jane Cheek!
My recent sculpture series for Illuminate Raleigh. “Echoes of Elsewhere” is a biomorphic lighted installation that invites viewers into a vivid, surreal ecosystem, where plant forms bloom in unexpected ways. Created as a series of four sculptures, each piece pulses with vibrant color and reflections, drawing on the dynamic textures of plant life and the fantastical qualities of imagined worlds. These illuminated forms offer a portal to "elsewhere," sparking curiosity and inspiring a playful sense of discovery. In this dreamlike space, viewers are encouraged to explore the boundaries between the real and the imagined, letting imagination, color, and light transport them beyond the familiar.

Meet Vera Weinfield, one of our 2025 North Carolina Emerging Artists in Residence! ? In this video, Vera shares about her current projects, the mediums she's worked with in the past, and her artistic process in the studio. Vera Weinfield is a multidisciplinary artist based in North Carolina and New York. Born and raised in Indiana, Vera graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts with a BFA in painting in 2014 and received her MFA at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2024. In collaboration with other artists and within her individual art practice, Vera invents mythical, political, and psychological narratives that investigate the slippages between fact and fiction, ‘good’ and ‘evil,’ Jew and Gentile, man and woman, animal and human, victim and oppressor. . . . . #ArtspaceNC #RaleighNC #Raleigh #ArtspaceIsOurPlace #DowntownRaleigh #ThingsToDoInRaleigh #ArtistinResidence

Congratulations to 2022 Artspace Emerging Artist in Residence and former Studio Artist Aliyah Bonnette for her feature in WALTER Magazine! The article beautifully highlights how she came to be an artist, how her quilting practice connects her with her family, and how she tells stories of Blackness and femininity through art.
