ARTSmemphis ARTSassist is the only grant of its kind in Shelby County supporting individual artists across visual art, dance, music, and film mediums to support the expansion and innovation of quality artistic work. Through this program, we honor the work of seasoned artists, advance the work of mid-career artists, and nurture the work of emerging artists. We are proud to join our grantee organizations across our community for Tennessee Arts Advocacy Day this Thursday, March 6, as we gather virtually to amplify our voices and share with our state legislators why continued support of the arts is critical.

“I don’t think that Memphians recognize the vastness of how the commerce around music reaches them on a personal scale," said DeMarcus Akeem Suggs, the director of the City of Memphis Office of Creative and Cultural Economy. "If we continue to invest in the infrastructure of music, whether that’s creation all the way to dissemination of the music, we will see artists stay here."
