Arts for Learning teaching artist Christina Delgado is leading a workshop this Saturday with the Baltimore Museum of Art at their Lexington Market branch. The workshop, during which participants will uncover the power of personal and cultural archives, is located in the Upper Market near the Baltimore Room at 112 N. Eutaw Street. Participants are invited to bring meaningful objects to document—family heirlooms, everyday items, or cherished keepsakes—that connect to histories of home, migration, and belonging. https://lnkd.in/emFGys5c

A week ago today, about 50 of us from Arts for Learning,?CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, and the?Thomas Jefferson Elementary Middle School?community, woke up to an icy cold morning and made our way to the school for a Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service project. Being in community with each other, paint brushes and decals at the ready, was the best way to warm up–and to help bring the school's vision to life. The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University announced it will launch the first-ever Bachelor of Music in Hip Hop program, fittingly bringing this first-of-its-kind undergraduate hip-hop degree to the first conservatory in the United States. Led by composer, producer, beatmaker, pianist, and professor Wendel Patrick, inaugural faculty will include Grammy Award-winning rapper, songwriter, and record producer Lupe Fiasco as a distinguished visiting artist. “I’m thrilled to work with my colleagues at one of the top conservatories in the country to advance the training of young rappers, turntablists, producers, and beatboxers. Students in this rigorous yet collaborative program can expect to share ideas, perform with others, and develop their skills through private study with professional practitioners on the cutting edge of music,” said Patrick The Bachelor of Music in Hip Hop program is accepting applications through January 24, 2025. ??
