Check out this awesome video from our recent mural project for SDG&E with Ian Stiles-Mikl! “Community is the heart of the ArtReach mural program,” Ian says. When it comes to his creations, this belief is non-negotiable: “We don’t want to create artwork for neighborhoods if it doesn’t reflect the local community; if they don’t feel represented or if they don’t feel connected to it, then we haven’t done our job.”
??Local artist Ian Stiles-Mikl and the entire team at ArtReach San Diego are bringing public art to life. Their dedication and creativity remind us how vital accessible art is for all.

That mural that just popped up on Morena Blvd...? It's more than just a pretty face on a not-so-pretty utility fence (no "offence", Fence!). As the mother of an artist, I've learned that art can inspire. And if it can inspire a brighter day, neighborhood pride, or even just a conversation between two people, well that seems worth it to me. I was thrilled to join Councilmember Dr. Jennifer Campbell, MD, Ian Stiles-Mikl, and the wonderful communities of Clairemont and Bay Park to celebrate another successful beautification of one of SDG&E's utility infrastructure properties. Ian's beautiful mural reflects local wildlife and native plants. Best of all, it is the product of close collaboration with residents. Working with local leaders and organizations is just one of the ways we express our commitment to improving the communities we serve. We thank ArtReach and Clairemont Town Council for making this project a reality. This is our second mural with ArtReach, and we look forward to future collaborations! We're so thrilled for Arielle Fuller to officially join the ArtReach board!! We can't wait to collaborate with you!
Beyond excited to share that I will be serving as the newest Board Member at ArtReach! Our mission: Igniting youth creativity through visual arts expression and community connection. Most of you know how I feel about building better, stronger, communities that center around meaningful connection. A natural fit there. Those who know me well know how much joy art brings me. I surround myself with it at home and create all kinds of random projects myself, often. Much of this passion stemmed from growing up in schools who valued creative expression. I was also raised by one of the most talented creatives I've ever met: my mom! She is one of those people who can create anything, in any medium, on any budget and on any timeline. She's spectacular and she instilled a (borderline delusional) creative fearlessness in me which has led me to feel confident trying endless crafts, performances, and other creations. They're not always great, but i've never regretted a single moment spent making something from nothing. I feel so lucky and I can't wait to help this stellar organization continue making San Diego a more colorful, creative, and connected place! Shout out to the sensational Laurie Evans who has always inspired me with her many creative talents, and also introduced me to ArtReach! Please check them out and support if you can <3 https://lnkd.in/gzPu7Knd

Exciting news ?? We’re honored to be a part of the Healing Through the Arts and Nature initiative! Thanks to support from The Conrad Prebys Foundation, ArtReach will be able to further our work in enhancing mental, physical, and emotional well-being by increasing access to the arts. ?? Research shows that creativity can boost mental health, reduce stress, and strengthen connections. ArtReach is here to make that more accessible for more members of our community. We’re so grateful to The Prebys Foundation's investment in our organization and can’t wait to share with you the special project with International Rescue Committee San Diego Women’s Resilience Center that this funding will support. Stay tuned for a meaningful day of connection at our headquarters in Hillcrest with some of the other incredible grantees! ?? #collectivecare #artreachsd #prebysfoundation #artreachmuralprogram #sandiegononprofit #artsnonprofit #healingthroughartandnature #prebysfoundation

Imagine a place where creativity knows no bounds. At our new community arts space, toddlers, teens, and adults are discovering art’s magic. Whether it’s a 1-year-old playing with paint for the first time, a 4th-grade class exploring creativity on a field trip, or adults finding connection through a lively printmaking party, this space is for everyone. But with ongoing budget cuts to arts programs, young people need these outlets more than ever. Your support helps us continue to provide transformational experiences like: - Hands-on classes that build confidence and skills for a lifetime. - Community collaborations that empower and connect. - In-school programs that spark self-expression and inclusivity. In 2025, we’re extending our impact—more open studio hours, family drop-ins, field trips, and murals that bring color and hope to San Diego. Let’s create brighter futures together! Donate today to ensure every student has the chance to explore, heal, and grow through art.
