What should be on every CISO’s radar in 2025? 2025 is here, and the cybersecurity landscape is evolving faster than ever. In a recent Cloud Security Today podcast interview with Steven Martano, we unpacked how CISOs are recalibrating their priorities to tackle emerging threats and align with business objectives. Here are the key areas where CISOs are focusing their efforts and budgets: ?? Building Boardroom Alignment CISOs are investing in business acumen and storytelling to better communicate risks in terms executives understand. Gaining boardroom buy-in is no longer optional—it's a core part of the role. ?? Third-Party Risk Management With supply chains becoming a favorite attack vector, managing third-party risk is a top priority. Expect to see more investments in vendor risk assessments and continuous monitoring solutions. ?? AI Risk and Responsible Use As AI adoption accelerates, CISOs are leading efforts to secure AI systems and mitigate risks from irresponsible AI use. This includes ensuring AI aligns with ethical and compliance frameworks. ?? Resilience Over Prevention CISOs are shifting from “preventing every breach” to ensuring rapid detection, response, and recovery. Investments in identity automation platforms (like Cerby) that connect previously disconnected apps to platforms like Saviynt, Okta, or Entra ID, incident response playbooks, tabletop exercises, and DR/BC plans are rising. ??
