The artEquity office will be closed on November 28 + 29 in honor of National Day of Mourning. On this day, we ask ourselves how we can take action in support of native and Indigenous communities. How do we support the Land Back Movement? How can we impact local/national legislation that affect Indigenous rights? How can we continue to improve our understanding of anti-Indigeneity? Join us in considering these questions and taking action. #NationalDayofMourning #LandBack #IndigenousSolidarity #Justice Image Description: The quote, “On this day of 'mourning' I encourage you, with a hopeful heart, to continue to gather and have ceremony in remembrance of all our people, especially those who have given their lives so that we might live. Each of you has within you the potential to make a difference in the world. Each one of you has the opportunity and ability to do one act of kindness to someone in need and one act to make the earth a better place for all life.” by Leonard Peltier, Indigenous Rights Activist of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Tribe is centered within orange quote brackets on a bronze background surrounded by a black vignette.

关于我们
artEquity offers training and consulting services to individuals and organizations on creating and sustaining a culture of equity and inclusion through the arts and culture. Training topics address structural and systemic issues of identity, power-sharing language and communication, team building, and strategies to initiate and normalize equity-based approaches in organizational and community culture. The arts community is undergoing a dynamic shift with growing opportunities for leadership in community impact. However, without a strategic coordination of efforts, resources, and capacity building, many opportunities will be lost or short-lived. artEquity trainings create diverse, well-equipped cadres of engaged arts practitioners who sustain and expand equity-based initiatives nationwide. It has been two weeks since Election Day and our team has been taking time to reflect, process, and reorient our thoughts and feelings around the results. Despite the outcome, we remain hopeful and resilient. We understand the assignment. In the words of Executive Director Carmen Morgan, "Not only will we withstand the challenges that may come next, but we have the resources to do so without fear. Fear is really powerful, isn't it? We have an incredible opportunity to meet fear with love." We are sending love to our community and all folks impacted by the current conditions. We are not alone. We will continue to build and work in community. We have courage. In the face of fear, we will move forward. We have work to do. The mandate is still the same and more necessary than ever. We will stay replenished. We will pause when needed. There are no quick fixes and we’ll stay the course. TOGETHER, we are the answer. #artEquity #LeadWithLove #community #activism #courage

The artEquity office is closed today in observance of Veterans Day. The results of this election have many veterans—especially Black, Indigenous, POC, LGBTQ+, disabled, and other targeted-community vets—concerned about their rights, the future, and the democracy they fought for. Hold space for them today as they grapple with a myriad of emotions; tomorrow, let’s work together to protect them as they served to protect our ability to continue to strive toward a more perfect union. #artEquity #VeteransDay #Equity #Advocacy Image Description: A US flag banner at top with a photo in the middle of a group of four silhouettes against a blue sky, using their hands to form the letters, L, O, V, and E. In white font at bottom, it reads “Sending love and support to those who have served,” and the artEquity logo at bottom right.

It’s Election Day! Let’s do our part in letting our voices be heard on not only the national scale, but at our local levels as well. Our team wishes folks ease and breath as we all take care of ourselves and one another (does anyone in your community need a ride to the polls?), reflect on the political moment, and strategize to continue to build power in our people and within our arts communities. artEquity will be closed on Tuesday, November 5, in order to “throw down” with our votes!? #artEquity #ElectionSeason #ElectionDay Image Description: An orange box with a voting ballot image to the left of large text that says “Election Day.” Below is a semi-transparent image of people holding hands towards the sky. a checklist overlays the image with four checkboxes beside text that read: “Review voter guides and sample ballots to research the candidates and their issues to make your decision prior to voting!, Find your polling location and its hours by checking your voter registration!,?Bring a form of photo identification to the polls! (e.g.,?a state issued drivers license, voter registration card with a photo, US passport)*, Check in with your community to see if anyone needs a ride to the polls!” To the bottom left corner, text reads: “*Some states do not require photos or ID documents to vote, so check your state requirements!” with the artEquity logo on the right bottom corner.

We have been holding grief, anger, and sadness for the overwhelming loss in the world that is out of our control. As we tend to the broader community through our work, we recognize the need to tend to ourselves. The artEquity team will be taking a strategic pause and closing the office on Friday, October 18, so we can replenish and reset. We will reopen on Monday, October 21. Take care of yourselves. With love, the artEquity team.

One of the more egregious myths about Indigenous People is that they no longer exist as cultures and communities. INDIGENOUS PEOPLE ARE STILL HERE. On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor their histories, their present, and their futures. We honor their persistence, resistance, and continued advocacy for their own rights and lands, and liberation for all. The artEquity office is closed on Monday, October 14, in honor of Indigenous Peoples’ Day and will reopen on Tuesday, October 15. We encourage everyone to join us in learning more about the Indigenous communities in their areas. #artEquity #indigenouspeoplesday Image Description: A watercolor painting of mountains, the sun, and a blue sky is the backdrop to the following text: Honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day, Monday, October 14, 2024, with the artEquity logo at bottom right.

At a time when racial, economic, and political divides threaten to fracture community cohesion, we continue to envision another way. Part of that vision includes a commitment to community and fostering that community through insightful programming. To that end, the 2024 cohort of artEquity's BIPOC Leadership Circle met June 10–14, 2024, on the lands of the Chumash, Tongva, and Kizh peoples (now known as Los Angeles). We were grateful for our time together for this retreat! For all the members of the BIPOC Leadership Circle in attendance, we were honored you could join us. For our community members who were not on-site, we are excited to share some highlights with you! Go to https://lnkd.in/etfXYPFX to read on! If you've subscribed to our emails, you'll find it in your inbox, too! #artEquity #BIPOCLeadershipCircle Image Description: Large group of BIPOC Leadership Circle cohort members smiling and striking a pose in front of a colorful street mural.
