Everyone knows that getting a startup off the ground is hard. Hard is a pretty egregious understatement actually, but you get the point. What everyone might not know is how amazing it feels to leave your customers/patients with the type of healthcare experience that they write letters about. Good ones that is. When’s the last time you wrote a letter of recommendation about medical services you received? Yea, I haven’t either. It’s small wins like this that makes everything else worth it. No matter what else happens on this journey, we changed at least one patients life. I’ll take the win. Keep pushing forward, and build the world you want to live in.
Earlier this year, when analyzing market segments for prioritization of rollout, we performed a review of existing published studies that looked at the impact of using 3D software and printed models to explain injuries had on a juror's understanding of the injury. Some other interesting trends came up as well in this context. Retrospective error rates for radiologic examinations are around 30%. Given that statistic, using medical imaging viewers that no one outside of radiologists understand and interpret, means those errors continue to go undetected. Its one of the many reasons we think patients and all physicians should have access to medical imaging platforms that they can understand. It means there's a chance that each of those 30% errors during the radiologic examinations, might get caught by a downstream physician, patient, or caretaker. We believe in that chance, and fight everyday to give patients and victims that chance. #forthepatients #patientempowerment
The most rewarding part of our work at Artemis Immersive, is being able to make a tangible and valuable contribution to patients who are on their journey to a better understanding of their health. Too often, patients are given a diagnosis and a quick medical report write up, that fails to do adequately communicate the scenario to the patient. Left without a true understanding, things like treatment & recovery adherence drop. By better enabling the patient to take control of their health, they become active in their recovery.
