One thing I know is we need more elders in this world like Ronald Bennett. Not to mention that leadership begets leadership. I have been lucky enough to get his support. Now everyone can via his new book: The Engineers Guide To Authentic Leadership. Ron brings all of his career and educational experiences to bear. Over 1/3 of the book is devoted to interviews and case examples of various executives and leaders. More than ever, companies and communities need more engineers willing to lead...The book "The Engineers Guide to Authentic Leadership" provides an urgent call to action! As a profession, engineers have the toolset to actually have a chance at "defining" then attempting to solve the monumental problems corporations and society are up against today! How do we as engineers prepare for a more significant and influential leadership role? What key attributes are needed? What does a roadmap for success look like? Will leadership be as satisfying and enjoyable as engineering design or project management, and finally who can help us figure this out? Unfortunately, great leaders seem to be the exception not the rule and the associated negative impact on corporate culture represents a situation that really needs to get better. Too few leaders have interest in serving and being trustworthy mentors who care about their team with a willingness to make the commitment and investment to foster professional and personal growth. Just got done reading "The Engineering's Guide to Authentic Leadership" by Ron Bennett and this is by far the best guide for sustainable leadership I've ever come across, and I've read (too) many books on leadership throughout my academic journey and career. The book provides an outline with a call-to-action for engineers to lead, along with thoughtful ideas to reflect on for self-awareness, and finally some stories from a select group of successful leaders with tangible examples of how to make a real and sustainable difference at work, in our communities and at home.
